Red Dragon: it is becoming the more "unique" or "new" to watch out of the Hannibal Lecter trilogy.
Why? Becuase is the one I watch the least (not becuase it's bad... just because). Therefore, SILENCE is such a classic that gets kind of overplayed and although HANNIBAL is my favorite it is too long to watch too often.

And for a remake - "Red Dragon" is a really very good movie, considering that I don't usually like remakes.
Watched Red Eye today and was reminded about what a much better movie it is than "Flightplan". Rachel McAdams is on my list of top ten up and coming actresses and this movie is just another notch in her belt on her climb to the top. Wes Craven's direction didn't hurt either. Good story and good action. I like this one a lot. Can't say the same for the Jodie Foster film.
Then just a bit ago I watched The Transporter 2 and was reminded how much better the first one really was. This sequel is pretty weak story wise, but the action is pretty heart-stopping. The stunts are pretty amazing and make me wonder how many people got hurt making this movie. Good for a popcorn movie.

Alexander Director's Cut:
And I thought Elektra was a mess of a movie.
What a waste of talent....
And it is not has the movie is horrible, just flawed.
1. Those flashbacks... what gives? You didn't know you were watching one untl too late into one.
2. ... they never made sense. You couldn't tell what was ther purpose in the whole story.
3. the characters where so flat. Even Alexander that looked like a cool character was just wasted.
4. his "relationship" with his friend. No one ever saw that coming. It was never explained. I mean, you couldn't even tell it significance as friends (he was never in the whole picture as to care), much less something more.
...and of course, the same goes with his servant.
5. the battles were SO bland. They were supposed to be epic... but no way. They were just there.
6. Anthony Hopkins: WHY?!!
7. Angelina Jolie was never meant to look old.
8. Colin Farrell: he's such a good actor (look at him in Daredevil; he steals the show).
8. The settings and the props looked cheap. They looked like "Xena" standards.
9.... and sorry but by the end of a movie wth his frend dying on the bed and him talking looking at the window... it looked funny. It was like: "mmm, helloooo, he's dying you know. Go to him"
This movie makes Elektra look like Batman Begins.
PS
A friend of mine told me she was bothered by all the sex (especially gay) that was there. Now I'm going to ask her, "What movie did you see?" There was just one sex scene that was graphic, the gay one was implied, and the kiss Alexander gave the Indian... sorry but it looked cool to me. don't know why but it did.

There was a lot more sexual stuff in the theatrical cut. It was scaled back in a big way for the DVD. Your friend was prolly talking about the theatrical cut, which is not available on DVD.Evil Genie Jafar wrote:

Funny then, I'd think a Director's Cut would have more explicit content. I'll have to check that one to see then.daryliscool1 wrote:There was a lot more sexual stuff in the theatrical cut. Isidour:
1. Why eeewww? Whenever we men watch women kissing or much more we are supposed to be cheering for it. But if that happens between men is disgusting? And by the way, I mean it . It looked cool. Precisely because it wasn't a french kiss or a sexually arousing one.
2. I'm not against or in favor of either one. Just what I just said.

The theatrical cut isn't on DVD at all. They only released the director's cut, because audiences didn't like the sexual content. Happy searching, though. I hope you can prove me wrong.Evil Genie Jafar wrote:Funny then, I'd think a Director's Cut would have more explicit content. Believe me, it wasn't one like the one in "Y tu Mama Tambien" ; and I didn't have a problem with that one either.
PS
Watching The Cave.... the movis is so boring, I'm not even paying full attention to it.

I watched Auntie Mame last night. The jokes never get old for me- Rosalind Russell's sarcasm is scathing!

I've just watched 1953's War of the Worlds again and it's a feast for the senses. It's almost like a technicolor comic-strip but it works so well - almost everything about this film is just 'right'. Even today the Martian machines excite, and considering the time and budget of the film, there's some amazing effects shots in there.
In some respects, I think it is a better film than the recent Spielberg/Cruise <strike>remake</strike> reimagining.
The main problem I have with the 2005 War of the Worlds is how it's set in the modern day; it seems somewhat redundant when the '53 version already did a contemporary version. That said, the 2005 version is closer to the source.

I saw Memoirs of a Geisha on Friday.
I went in thinking that the movie would be terrible, with big bits missing out, and just turn out to be a complete mess. How wrong was I?! I loved it
The rest of the cinema got caught up in it as well, with most letting out a huge gasp towards the end of the story.

I'm currently watching Daredevil: Director's Cut.
Wanted to watch a super hero film. The first 3 Batman's (including BEGINS) I have seen not that long ago (although BEGINS not that soon, so I will); and the last 2... well you know the quality of them.
X-MEN is the least I like of the 2 because of the time used in introducing the characters, and X2 I'm going to watch after the first one.
And HELLBOY is very cool but too noisy and loud.
PS
Let's see if I can finish watching it because as ALWAYS my mom knocks on my door to lower the volume.... and when she starts doing that I get so pissed off that I just take the movie out.
