Pretty much my thoughts on it too. I didn't realize it was out on R2 DVD, so I'm glad to see that... promising for a R1 release.ichabod wrote:When it first aired I thought it was crap, but i saw it going cheap, so I thought what the hell, and it's like a completely different show! Latest DVD purchases (and planned future ones)
Forgive me if this topic has been done before.
I'm a bit of a nerd, and as a collector it's always interesting to hear what kind of deals people may be getting, or what new releases, or old favorites people have just picked up! So I figured I'd start this topic. It's mostly Disney related, but I supposed if you just picked something else up you were waiting for, or looking for, post away!
I myself have just decided to collect all the "Animated Classics" to have on DVD, as well as the Pixar movies as well. In trying to fill in the gaps, these are the movies I've just picked up:
- Brother Bear - recieved it for Christmas
- Home on the Range & Treasure Planet ($20 for both with shipping off ebay from the same seller)
- I just joined the DMC and for $30 (with shipping) I'm getting Dumbo, The Aristocats, Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music and Oliver & Company. I figure I'll buy Treasures from them to fill my requirements
- Emperor's New Groove: Ultimate Groove Ed. off ebay for $20
- Tarzan: Collector's Ed (Disneyguy offered me a copy new at $45, and someone was selling one on ebay with shipping for $40, so I figured I'd just bite the bullet and buy it now before it gets even more expensive. There was a copy on there that went for under $10, but the seller didn't have any good pictures of it...)
The only item I currently want to track down now is the Fantasia Anthology. I have my eye on a copy that would cost me about $70 - is that a reasonably good bargain for this OOP title? After that I'll probably have to cool my DVD spending for awhile, especially with Lady & The Tramp PE, Chicken Little and the Golden Girls Season 4 coming out in the next 2 months!
I'm also aware of that Dumbo and Treasure Planet likely have impending new editions coming out. If a special edition comes out of TP, I will surely pick it up (as I'm after the special features/goodies included on 2-disc sets!). And depending on the reviews of the new Dumbo, I will likely double-dip if there's any new special features that are worth it.
I've yet to decide on what to do with the Fox & the Hound, since there is no confirmed SE yet, but I know the Gold Collection is going OOP. I don't want to have to wait 5 years (as I'm stuck doing with Pinnochio). I will also double dip on Lilo & Stitch when the 2-disc finally gets it's day.

SNOW WHITE
Finally I was able to get it! Almost every other day I checked the availability of the DVD on gamestop.com and nothing. Or f they did carry it, they would have it in the other side of the country.
Until... FINALLY yesterday I checked and they had it in a nearby city. I went to look for it (they had various tracks of used DVDS; the biggest selection on any gamestop I've been) and couldn't find it at frst glance. So when I was about to ask an employee to find it for me, I finally found it. It was placed in one of the bottom tracks in a dark corner. I felt like I found a treasure (with the Zelda music whenever you open a treasure chest).
So, at last I have it.

Well, I have went way overboard recently!!
My son is 2 and just starting to occasionally watch movies (though I skip any scary parts
) so I have bought quite a lot recently since we didn't really have many on dvd with the exception of treasures and Beauty and the Beast. I'm updating the vhs (or planning to) to dvd as well and donating the vhs's to the local library.
For Christmas: Hubby got Kronk's New Groove, I received Chronological Donald 2 and Rarities treasures
I joined the Disney movie club in Dec and picked Lilo and Stitch, Mulan, Mulan 2, Brother Bear and Finding Nemo for the same $30 as when you joined
Then, when I received my order, the booklet had the deal of buy one get 25% off the rest so I purchased my featured title $30 something for Lilo and Stitch 2 and Stitch the movie, and got 25% off of a bunch (embarrassing really!!) Emperor's New Groove Collector's edition (for hubby for our anniversary later this month since he loves the movie!!), Monster's Inc, Great Mouse Detectives (also for hubby for our anniversary because this was the first movie we went to when we started dating back in junior high!!), Aladdin, Dumbo, Tigger Movie (total on all these $130 with free shipping)
Ok, you'd think that was plenty, then Luke posted pixar movies would be on sale the 8th so I ordered Incredibles and Bug's Life for $14.97 each from Amazon.com
I also picked up the Lion King trilogy for $45 on ebay so we definitely don't need any more for a while!!! Although, I may get Aladdin 2 & 3 if it's my featured selection when it changes in a couple days in case they go OOP.
Later this year, I plan on getting Lady and the Tramp, Little Mermaid, Brother Bear 2, Cars, Bambi, and Cinderella, but I will probably wait until they are available through the club so that I can get them cheaper and they will count towards membership requirements
That's way too many movies, but my son and I are enjoying watching them occassionally.

I plan on going back to the Borders near my house. I was there a month ago and they still had a copy of the Lion King Collectors box set which is long out of print. If it's still there, I plan on picking it up. I have the Aladdin one as it's my favorite movie, and Lion King is my second, so I figure I should pick it up too!
I'm hoping the DMC has pretty good deals on certain percentages off. I'm new to it, but here's hoping.
I also wonder if they ship their movies with sleeves (the ones released with them).

The Aladdin and Mulan that I ordered did come with the slipcovers. I don't know much about their sales either so I hope they have good ones. 25% was okay, not great, but enough for me to buy a bunch of movies we wanted.mikemgmve wrote: I'm hoping the DMC has pretty good deals on certain percentages off. Bought Monsters Inc and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. I've been wanting the second one for a long time, and knowing that it never goes on sale, I decided to use my first Reward Zone gift certificate on it, then I saw that they had Monsters Inc for only $12.99 so I had to pick that one up too!!

I still have not watched it yet but I recall likeing it with my VHS copy (but I have not watched it years) but was still the weakest Muppet film. (Also FYI It was shot At the Disney-MGM in WDWLuke wrote:Ditto. That $5.50 price tag is tempting, but I somehow get the feeling if it was very good, I'd have heard about it in the past few years.AwallaceUNC wrote: Let us know what you think about this one in one of the Muppets threads, or start a new one for this movie. I've considered getting it since it's so cheap, but I'm not sure what to expect.
