Cinderella Man was a very well done film, as are most of the Ron Howard directed projects. Russell Crowe, despite your like or dislike of him, gives an incredible performance as James J. Braddock and I think that if it gets passed over, it will be a shame. I don't care if he wins, just to be acknowledged by your peers is what counts.
I don't believe in bogus challenges, so your refusal to go along with my challenge just tells me that you don't know what the heck you are talking about. You are probably reading your favoite magazine and quoting little things from it to make it sound like you know what you are talking about.
To be a real movie critic, you need to see 'every' movie that is released to the theatrical going public and then make your choices. You can't just go by listening to and reading what critics say about a film to make your own judgments.

Really DVDjunkie? You have to see EVERY movie to make good decisions. I find it odd that you are criticizing me, someone who sees 60+ movies a year, which is apparant from my log, when you seem to only see big-budget or mainstream titles. I see a bit of everything. You don't. And you are so dumb for implying that I'm trying to be a "real" critic.
I wasn't even criticizing Cinderella Man. I said it looks like a typical Ron Howard production, which isn't a judgement, but an educated assumption. If it's a good movie, then of course, I want it to win. If not, choose something different for a change. Ron Howard has an underserved Oscar, Renee Zellweger has an undeserved Oscar, Russel Crowe has an undeserved Oscar. Do they really need a second one, even if deserved? Once is enough, and out point on this thread is to show that there are even more interesting things to chose from this year then whitebread American cinema.
Challenge me to something when you have seen a few arthouse/independent titles, and at least five. I have. Try watching five foreign films a year. I do. So who doesn't know what they're talking about now?
Sidenote: I'm not accepting you challenge because I never said I didn't believe King Kong would be a good movie. It's Peter Jackson, so duh, of course it's going to be a good movie. It's just not the type of movie AMPAS particularly likes. If it gets nominated, then they broke the mold. If not, it's because of their typical bias.
