Everywhere but the United States, the "Funny Factory" DVDs are different from the "Classic Cartoon Favorites" DVDs— in that the FFs feature the new Mickey cartoons produced for MOUSEWORKS and HOUSE OF MOUSE.
Someone in the United States has apparently made a conscious decision that the MW/HOM Mickeys didn't deserve a video release here. Instead, we get bushels of later, dull 1940s Mickey shorts where Pluto is really the star. How disappointing.
This isn't to say that the Classic Cartoon Favorites discs aren't disappointing too. You'd think these kid-marketed discs would be ideal spots to include the colorized versions of Mickey's black-and-white shorts. But evidently the actual programmer hasn't realized that colorized versions exist, as none appear in the upcoming April CCF wave. The two "Mickey" discs consist almost entirely of Pluto solo shorts!
(Yes, the Christmas wave included a colorized MICKEY'S GOOD DEED— but I suspect that was a mastering error, and the actual programmer is still unaware that the colorized versions are out there!)

By the same token, us non-US countries got wave after wave of dodgy compilations (Fables, for example, which have now been released in the US as Timeless Tales) while we watched wave after wave of Disney Treasures get released in the US.

I believe it was during the third or fourth wave of Treasures that we finally got our first - and seemingly last - set of treasures, consisting of the animated sets only.

The Mouseworks/HoM episodes were one of the few perks in a sea of disappointments. The US may be getting all of these 'dull compilations' now, but that is only because you've had so much to choose from before. It is only a matter of time before Disney completely empties their vaults.

By the way, I noticed that two of the three Figaro cartoons are included in the Mickey and Minnie compilation, the first time in the U.S. that any of these cartoons have appeared on DVD. It would be logical to include them on the Pinocchio special edition, but only time will tell. Now only Figaro and Cleo will not have been released from this series.

Going off the last post....I would like to take the lazy way out and ask someone to post which of these cartoons have not made it to DVD yet.
As an owner of all the Treasures, which of these titles is worth buying!?

I know I could sit down and figure it out myself, but I figure someone else already has....

This thread is a endlessly useful resource:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... php?t=3795

I'd like to think so is the front page, which stated last wek that four of the eight shorts on each haven't appeared on the Walt Disney Treasures yet. Actually, I must have overlooked that "Pluto, Junior" was indeed on Pluto V1. So only 3 of the last one's shorts haven't been on the Treasures before.

Here's the breakdown:

Mickey and Minnie
First Aiders - Pluto Vol. 1
Bath Day - Not on DVD
Pluto and the Gopher - Not on DVD
Figaro and Frankie - Not on DVD
Mickey’s Rival - Sweetheart Stories, Mickey Living Color V1
The Nifty Nineties - Sweetheart Stories, Mickey Living Color V2, Pollyanna
Pluto’s Sweater - Not on DVD
Mickey’s Delayed Date - Sweetheart Stories, Mickey Living Color V2

Donald and Daisy
Mr. Duck Steps Out - Donald V1, Sweetheart Stories
Cured Duck - Donald V2
Donald’s Double Trouble - Donald V2, Sweetheart Stories, The Parent Trap
Sleepy Time Donald - Not on DVD
Crazy Over Daisy - Not on DVD
Donald’s Dream Voice - Not on DVD
Donald’s Crime - Donald V2, The Great Mouse Detective
Donald’s Diary - Not on DVD

Mickey and Pluto
Pluto’s Housewarming - Pluto V1
Pluto And The Armadillo - Pluto V1
Cat Nap Pluto - Not on DVD
Pluto’s Party - Mickey Living Color V2
Pluto, Junior - Pluto V1, Lady and the Tramp II
Pluto’s Fledgling - Not on DVD
Plutopia - Mickey Living Color V2
Pueblo Pluto - The Three Caballeros

Not as bad as you think

"Crazy Over Daisy" is one of my favorite DD cartoons among others. I probably would consider buying one of the DVD's in these series and when the Treasures come out I can sell the DVD.

Has Anyone Get "Best Pals Mickey & Pluto" DVD

Post by musicradio77 »

I looked up on Amazon.com that Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites Vol. 12 DVD "Best Pals: Mickey & Pluto" is coming out by Tuesday. I might get it because I love Pluto a lot. My mother like Mickey and stepdad love Donald. I'm not getting other Disney films like "Chicken Little" or any other Princess DVD's except "The Chronicles of Narnia", the one I'm getting it since it was already out. Pluto is one of my all-time favorite Disney character, along with Mickey and Donald. This is the DVD that I'm getting. I have "The Complete Pluto - Vol. 1" the ones I got for Christmas two years ago, but I can't wait to get Volume 2 soon in the Treasures collection. Pluto is the best!

I'm a bit unsure as to what exactly you are asking. I'm assuming you just want to know who else is getting that particular dvd?

I may pick it up eventually but not right away.

With both Pluto Treasures there wouldn't be any need for further Pluto DVDs unless you'd just like to have more discs.

just an fyi, the best pals dvds are cheaper on deepdiscountdvds.com than amazon if you're looking for them. I personally like these dvds because they are shorter and work better when my son wants to watch a dvd versus the longer treasures so I don't mind double dipping. Treasures for me and CCF for my son (well and me, too, ).

According to someone's review at Amazon.com, the two cartoons are expect to be on November's "Treasures" set for "The Complete Pluto - Vol. 2". That I can get it soon. I'm a big Pluto fan, but I would look forward to get it.

And according to someone's Treasures page at UltimateDisney.com, the two cartoons are expected on December's "Treasures" set, The Complete Pluto, Volume 2. Wonder where they got the information from that Pluto, Volume 2 was coming out this December too. Oh, those resourceful Amazon.com customers!

Scene 1:
Escapay is sitting at his computer reading each and every review. He nods, highlights words, and occasionally grunts a few times. After each review he says, "Mm-hmm..." and goes to the next. Once he's done, he heads straight for the messageboard and clicks "Quote" to reply...

Escapay:
Right, okay, minions???

Minion 1:
Do we have to?

Escapay:
Yes. You were made for one purpose! To dance!

Minion 2:
But you always use us! Why not use the one that hits a brick wall?

Escapay:
Because I'm known for using you! Now dance, fools, dance!

Minion 3:
No! I quit!

Escapay:
You can't quit! You're an Emoticon, and more importantly, you're my minions! Dance!

Minion 2:
We should've joined that internet circus...

Minion 1:
Who does this guy think he is?

Minion 3:
Quiet, I don't think we're allowed to talk anymore...

Escapay:
Dance, my pink elephants, dance!

Escapay leads out three pink elephants, and they begin to dance...

:pink: :pink: :pink:

Minion 1:
I should've listened to my mother. She told me about this one job at some theme park...

Minion 2:
The one where you fly around in a circle all day long?

Minion 3:
I heard they don't give you breaks...

Minion 1:
Yeah, well. It must be better than this!

Escapay laughs as the minions keep on dancing.

Great job on the reviews! As always, they're written in such a way that I want to buy it even if it's a somewhat inferior product! Though I may get Donald & Daisy, simply because it's Donald & Daisy.

So that's what happens when Escapay reads a UD review, huh? Thanks for the transcript!

Hehe, if you can add flair to UD reviews, I should add some more flair to my feedback of the reviews.

Once I get around to reading the reviews for Greatest Game and Pooh's Grand Adventure (once that gets put up), we'll continue with the escapades of Escapay's minions, the dancing pink elephants!
