I'm Getting Into James Bond Movies
I know you fans of 007 would love the series. I'm getting into James Bond fiasco. I remember seeing that movie "Die Another Day" with Pierce Brosman in his last film as James Bond 007. I saw it at the theater two years ago. It was a great movie. Guess what AMC is showing the James Bond movies all week long. The one movie that I'm watching is "Dr. No" the movie that started it all. Starring Sean Connery as James Bond. He was the first actor to play 007. It is going to be a great movie. Any thoughts on Bond films, please post.
I like them alot...
Im very excited for Casino Royal
I prefer the old ones though but The Pierce Brosman ones are still very good.

I haven't cared for the last few (especially Die Another Day), although I think that Pierce Brosnan has been a terrific Bond.
Dr. No is definitely one of my favourites (for the classic introduction of Honey Rider scene alone), with Goldfinger being the absolute classic you MUST see. It is the first time they really started to let loose with the gadgets, and Goldfinger is a terrific villain.
Connery is my favourite bond, and I think that Diamonds Are Forever (his last 'official' Bond film after a one-film hiatus) is severely underrated. George Lazenby, the Aussie Bond who only starred in one film - On Her Majesty's Secret Service - is arguably in one of the best Bond films as well. After all, it is the first and only time that Bond ... well, I don't want to spoil that
None of this is to detract from the excellent work of Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton, both of whom have left their marks on the role (Moore in 7 films, Dalton in 2). One of my all-time favourite Bond films is A View to a Kill. After all - Christopher Walken + Grace Jones + Duran Duran. How can you go wrong?
Dalton had the misfortune of being in two Bond films that were obviously lacking in budget, and looked almost made for television at times. However, as Bond, he is up there with the best. His films were much darker and more realistic, perhaps a product of their times. I suspect audiences didn't want to see Bond dealing with real life. However, I suspect a more realistic approach wouldn't go astray today.
I'm a sucker for the Bond films. Even if they denegerate into parodies of themselves (some would say they have already jumped the shark...literally in the case of one Dalton film), I look forward to each and every one. Daniel Craig could be the best since Connery. After all, he has that 'rough around the edges' feel that only Connery has been able to convey, in my opinion. This is a guy that has a licence to kill, so you need someone a little bit badass (in the books, he is meant to be an uglier man - with facial scar I believe).

I own all the Bond films and I agree with Loomis, Sean Connery was James Bond. All of his movies had great casts, great villains, and moved at a break-neck pace. I really like From Russia With Love and Thunderball, and my all-time favorite of Mr. Connery's is Diamonds Are Forever.
The George Lazenby film was probably the weakest of the Bond genre, only because Lazenby was not an actor. But Telly Savalas as the bad guy was a real smart move.
I refuse to watch movies on AMC because of their edits and constant interruption for commercials. I like them better when they were a commercial free network.

Mostly just agreeing with junkie - On Her Majesties Secret Service was the weekest. Actually really enjoyed the Dalton movies.
But Connery was the best - Goldfinger and Thunderball being the best Bond flicks in my opinion.
Own them all on VHS or DVD including the original Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again.

Been a James Bond fan since I was in...fourth grade, I think. This was back in the day when our house DIDN'T have cable, until the following summer, and one of the channels (I think TNT) was having a James Bond marathon to help promote GoldenEye.
I'm probably one of the few who truly enjoyed Timothy Dalton's portrayal as James Bond as well as his two James Bond movies. But of course, he still doesn't hold a candle to Sean Connery.
To quote Steve from Coupling: "Look, it's the four pillars of the male heterosexual psyche. We like: naked women, stockings, lesbians, and Sean Connery best as James Bond."
I think that my favorite Bond film will always be Goldfinger, with The Living Daylights a distant second, and maybe GoldenEye and The Man with the Golden Gun tying for third.

Howdy!
The James Bond movies are exciting! I like A View To A Kill the best. Die Another Day was also excellent as well.
BTW, why would MGM put the entire 007 DVD library on hold? They're great DVDs! Oh well; in 2007, when the real Casino Royale comes out on DVD, Sony (they own MGM now) will probably release 45th Anniversary DVDs (hopefully Blu-ray versions as well!) of the 007 movies.

Help put "Manos" back at #1 in the Bottom 100! Vote now: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060666/

I wish we would get more bond films, by the time Casino Royale comes out it will be 4 years sice the last one. In the glory days, it took 2 years max. Also, get rid of the gratious sex Die Another Day put in the film, kids watch these things.
Goldfinger is the best.

2.FYEO-For Your Eyes Only

It has always been a mystery to me as to why an act associated with love is to be censored, but much of the violence seen in Bond films is fine for the kiddies to handle. I'm sorry if this seems like a cheap shot at you, because it's not. I was just wondering...GhostHost wrote:Also, get rid of the gratious sex Die Another Day put in the film, kids watch these things.

sex often has nothing to do with love. Violence never harms people seriously. I played Doom when I was 8 or 9 and I have never killed anyone. I am 20 now BTW.DisneyFan 2000 wrote:It has always been a mystery to me as to why an act associated with love is to be censored, but much of the violence seen in Bond films is fine for the kiddies to handle.
