Can't Find a "Sleeping Beauty" DVD

Post by musicradio77 »

I was at the mall today, I tried at FYE where I can find a "Sleeping Beauty" DVD, they don't have it. I tried at Best Buy, they didn't have it and then finally at EB Games, I tried it and they still didn't have it. Now I can't get the DVD of "Sleeping Beauty". :( I like to see the special features on the second disc including a short film called "Grand Canyon" based on Ferde Grofe's classical number. It's on the "Sleeping Beauty" DVD. If not, I still the VHS masterpiece edition including a 15-minute behind the scenes glimpse about the making of the film. What should I do? Go to Ebay or maybe Amazon.com?

Sleeping Beauty is long out of print, so you would have to check either Amazon or eBay to get a copy. Beware of bootlegs, though.

I should've bought a copy when my local Target had some left on the shelf!

Sleeping Beauty's been out of print for like what, three years. You CAN try ebay but, BE CAREFUL. There are plenty of bootleggers out there.
Dragon, not lizard. I don't do that tongue thing.

I just got one off of eBay from a very outstanding seller. It's brand new, with a slipcover. However, I paid over $50 for it. Be prepared to pay a hefty price for this DVD, as it seems to be one of the most sought-after OOP titles.

If there's anything you want (Disney DVDs), get them while you can... :P

I was lucky enough to find the 2-disc Sleeping Beauty Special Edition in the pre-viewed section of my local Blockbuster just a couple of weeks ago. Priced at $9.99. I couldn't believe it--I'd never scored something like that at Blockbuster, but I wasn't about to complain.

And, as posted earlier, Gamestop seems to have it in stock for $29.99, which is worth a shot. I just found an OOP DVD at Gamestop for like $10 that is selling for much more on e-bay.

I've also had good experience with wherehouse.com for Disney titles, including OOP ones. Picked up Pinnochio used from them for pretty cheap, and it was in perfect condition. Also picked up used Lilo (1 and 2), Dumbo, Dinosaur collector's edition, and Alice and Wonderland. Even better when they have sales running.

Good luck in your search.

My dad got a new copy, including slipcover, at an FYE last year for one of my Christmas presents. It's pretty much impossible to find certain OOP Disney dvds around Chicago... I've only been to a Game Stop once, and they didn't have anything, but maybe I should check a few more times for Pinocchio and 101 Dalmatians

Yeah, it's best to pick up a Disney DVD when it is released.
After that, they tend to all get beaten up on the shelves and
the kids mess up the slip covers which I cannot stand!

Also, check other Disney DVDs for coupons and magazines! :)

Aw, that sucks. I have the DVD, the features are awesome. Very very comprehensive IMO. I have the slipcover as well that came with it.

Pre-owned DVDs at Gamestop are still sometimes overpriced, IMO. Same goes for their sister company Moviestop.

I recommend CD Warehouse. I visit two of their stores regularly in the Atlanta-area and "Sleeping Beauty" is nearly always available, and for around $11-13. I hate paying retail -- I bought most of my Disney DVDs from CD Warehouse.

Check the link below for locations in your area:

There aren't any CD Warehouses in Illinois, but there's one in Kenosha, which isn't that far away.... I want to go there.
