Finally saw 'Manos: The Hands of Fate' - worst film ever!

Post by sethn172 »

Howdy!

Yesterday, I finally watched the worst movie ever made - Manos: The Hands of Fate! It's a very funny movie, and it made me tired and hungry! This is the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version downloaded from bittorrent, BTW. Just search for it on Google.

Well, I've seen the best movie ever made, The Godfather, and now, I've seen the worst movie ever made, Manos: The Hands of Fate. MY LIFE IS NOW COMPLETE!!!!!

Welcome to club, sethn172. Manos is my pick for the worst movie ever even though there is some "excellent" competition from Monster A Go-Go, any Ed Wood or Francis Coleman movie.

Unfortunately, your life is forever changed and you be spending hours on imdb trying to understand how this movie was made or why people continue to watch it or even create web-sites about it. (I played the which character are you game, and turned out to be the master.) It was made by a fertiziler saleman from El Paso who produced, starred, directed, voiced and wrote it. (Insert joke here about fertiziler & Manos.) There is quite a history on this film as several of the actors committed suicide or disappeared. Torgo Forever!

Favorite Movie: Casablanca, but I am a sucker for Bogie movies.

Well I guess while we are at it lets go for our own personal best and worst picks.

Worst: Santa Clause Conquers the Martians
Best: I think the AFI got this one right, Citizen Kane.

I've only seen the MST version, and I'd have to agree. I can't imagine watching it WITHOUT the comments!! That'd be the most painful experience ever...

Then, I should not speak too loudly.

Entertainment Weekly picked this movie as the worst ever. I haven't seen it though myself.

I really want to see it, but does this movie have a lot of blood and gore and that sort of stuff (its listed as a horror movie...)

No, but the word 'horrific' definitely springs to mind!

There is no blood or gore but your life will forever be changed. These are just some of the horrors that is Manos:
1) The budget was only $19,000 and yet you will wonder where the money was spent.
2) Just try to get Torgo's theme song out of your head.
3) Seeing what could have been your grandmother in lingerie wrestling other woman.
4) Endless scenes of El Paso's landscape.
5) The End?
6) Wonder why perfectly responsible people, like myself, would ever watch this movie more than once.

I have seen most of MST3000 episodes and this was the movie why that show needed to exist. Only see it with Joel and the bots, otherwise I do not take responsibility.
