Name this Donald short

Post by sych0 »

Hello everyone

I have a memory of an old Donald short. I've scoured the net and havent had much luck finding it so I thought you guys would be a good resource. Anyway, what I remember is Donald had a job stocking a fish pond. I remember him in a shed growing fish like you would a garden. Drawing his finger in the water, the water staying put, planting the seeds and pushing the water back. I also remember him flying over the pond dropping the fish. I think there may have been a gag about Rainbow Trout

Is this familiar to anyone? Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure if it was Donald anymore...

Any help appreciated :)

You're thinking of "Hooked Bear" starring Humphrey the Bear and park ranger Audubon J. Woodlore. It's available now on the dvd set Walt Disney Treasures: Disney Rarities.

However, Donald is not in it. Just like CJ says, it's ranger Woodlore, not Donald.

There are several other shorts where Donald stars with Humphrey the bear, so I guess it's easy to get them mixed-up.

I've always found it funny how cartoons and films get mixed up when someone is trying to remember them. I've identified a few over the years for people who are remembering scenes from several cartoons and making them all just one cartoon.

It is also fun to be able to help someone identify a film or cartoon that they haven't been able to identify for themselves - sometimes for years or even decades!!!

Yes! You guys are the best! As jebsdad said, ya, I've been wondering the title for years.

The fact that its Ranger Woodlore would explain why a google search of "donald duck" and "fish" resulted in nothing. Thanks again everyone :)

edit: Oh wow. It looks like the screengrab in the logo at the top left is from the episode. Funny it didnt jog my memory :P

"Hooked Bear" was not exactly a Donald Duck cartoon. It features Humphrey the Bear in the opening title card. I've seen it before but I used to have it on a PD VHS tape called "Donald Duck & Friends".

I never said it was a Donald cartoon. :)

sych0 mistakenly thought the short in question stared Donald, and I pointed out the correct short. I also mentioned it stared Humphrey and the Ranger. Anders M Olsson also pointed out Donald wasn't in it.
I do believe sych0 knows by now Donald isn't in it. So, please do not quote me if you have not fully read the entire thread.
