Thoughts on Toon Disney and Jetix

Hello everyone!

I was curious to see how you all felt about the Jetix block on Toon Disney?

Here is what I think. When they first brought the Jetix block to the channel it was only two hours long. All of a sudden in November of 2004 they start these weekday bonus stacks and currently Jetix now airs from 7pm - 2am and 4pm - 2am on weekends. This is a bit much. I know that Disney now owns these shows, but those shows don't feel like Disney to me and I don't feel like I am watching Toon Disney anymore. On November 2004 they took off most of the classic Disney Afternoon shows (which were why I got the channel) The only ones they air now are TaleSpin and Chip 'N Dale RR and thats only at awful early morning slots. I so miss being able to watch Darkwing Duck, Bonkers, Goof Troop , all the 80's and early 90's shows.

Now in the UK I have heard that Jetix has its own channel and I highly believe we need this in the U.S. Jungle Cubs and Gummi Bears has not been seen on the U.S. airwaves since 2001 but yet they are airing in the UK. Why can't we have them still airing in the U.S. These were great shows and have fans.

Do you think that Disney will ever launch a channel specially for their 80's and 90's toons or make a channel just for Jetix like in the UK?

I am not trying to say that the Jetix shows are bad really some are quite good, but they don't belong on Toon Disney.

I really miss the way Toon Disney used to be I think this channel has gone way down from what it used to be.

How do all of you feel about this?

I really dislike Jetix block. Why can't Jetix be another Disney cable channel?
Toon Disney is making all the good classic shows like DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Goof Troop, Gummi Bears and Rescue Rangesr all go in limbo.

Why can't Disney just be fair to their 80's and 90's hits at least play them in the mornings?

For all I stand Toon Disney should be RIP!!!!

At least some Disney Animated show are going to DVD!!!!

I totally agree with you. If you take a look at how old some of Boomerangs cartoons are then there is absolutly no reason these cartoons you listed should not still be on the TV airwaves.

Jetix has its own channel made just for its shows in the UK , so why they put it on Toon Disney in the U.S. I will never understand.

Them putting The Proud Family and Kim Possible on Toon Disney was a bad choice for these still air on the regular Disney.

I am hoping that one day they will launch an all new Toon channel for the 80's and early 90's cartoons.

A friend of mine called the Toon Disney Hotline and told them how we felt , but didn't get anywhere.

Yes I am really glad about some of these DVD's that are coming out. Though I am sad to see Goof Troop and Quack Pack released to DVD with only 3 eps though maybe they are testing them.

I don't know why Disney needs Three Channels all playing stuff for the exact same audience!
It seems they created Toon Disney to use programing they weren't using on Disney Channel anymore, and now they are revamping Toon Disney!

Disney Channel should be all Disney oriented. All these sit-coms and silly new cartoons should be on ABC Family and leave the channels with Disney in their name to traditional Disney programing. They are starting to dilute the Disney name with future generations!

The Disney Afternoon Shows, WWOD, MMC....they all need a home on TV again!

Let's face it. The Disney Channel & Toon Disney jumped the shark a long time ago. Hey that gives me an idea. Lets start a new thread about when these stations offically "Jumped The Shark"

Toon Disney jumped the shark on Feb 2004 when Jetix came along, and even more so on November 1st 2004.

Disney Channel jumped the shark when they took off Vault Disney and programming such as Dumbo's Circus.

I remember when I was young watching Dumbo's Circus and Under the Umbrella Tree on the Disney Channel! Ah those were the days!

Man i love jetix. Action packed shows, and POWER RANGERS!!!! Damn i say jetix should either take over toon disney, and have the disney cartoons on disney channel or just let jetix have it's own channel like in the uk. Then hopefully they will air uncut power rangers episodes on jetix at late night.
May JETIX forver rule!!! Jetix is a great new world for a new generation!!
