Name of Film?

Post by LuciusQuill »

Hi, I'm new here and have sort of an odd question. Back in the 90's there was a very strange movie shown on the Disney channel set in the 1800's about two girls. I'm not sure whether they were orphans or what but they lived in a mansion with an evil woman who took away all of their toys and then ended up sending them to a work-house. In the workhouse they were given a number and not adressed with names. They were treated very badly and witnessed a child drowning. They led a rebellion and it was intimated that the people running the workhouse were killed. The two girls returned to the mansion - but wolves had gotten inside. The evil woman was riding on some kind of strange steam vehicle which ended up exploding.

I know this all sounds very strange and I know I'm missing some parts - but I swear I am not making this up. It was most definately on the Disney channel. Although I don't particulary care to see it again, I would like to know the title of the film and whether it was based on a book or something. I doubt very much that the Disney company even made this film - but it was shown on the disney channel. Thanks for any help you can give me. This ones been bugging me for awhile!

Hi LuciusQuill!

Welcome to UD!

Yes, I totally remember that movie as well! I can't remember what its called tho, either! Escapay (my brother) says the girls were cousins and one was the niece of the father and they were supposed to inherit something and there was a guy named Rupert at a factory.

Another movie I remember when this movie came on was "The Whipping Boy!" That was a creepy movie too. But this one that ur talking about sounds soooo familiar but I can't think of it either. Hopefully someone else will know it.

Found it!

Thanks to Kram Nebuer, I did a character search on IMDB.com - I looked through almost 400 results for the name Rupert. (I'm on christmas break - what else am I going to do?) :). Anyway, I found it, it's called "The Wolves of Willoughby Chase". It's based on a novel of the same name by Joan Aiken. It was made in 1988 by a company that from what I could tell has absolutely no ties with Disney. They went bankrupt shortly after making this film. I suppose Disney might have bought all of their titles - but who knows? Anyway, thanks to everyone who helped with this! Merry Christmas! :)

I wish Disney would release some of their 90s Disney Channel Movies on DVD. I liked the remakes of Freaky Friday with Shelly Long and Escape to Witch Mountain with Erik Von Deton. There are many I'd love to see on DVD.
We need season sets of all DCOSs and all DCOMs on DVD! And Better Cover Art!
