This may sound like a lame question but i was looking through the bonus features for Aladdin today and i was playing the carpet game. One of the puzzles in the game is to select the right order of bricks to get the clue. i think i've tried every combination except for the right one! It's driving me nuts! Does anyone know what it is?
Also, i've been reading about how Disney slipcases are limited to first pressings... do other movie companies limit their slipcases to first pressings only as well?
Thanks for your help..
Two questions. (Aladdin dvd, slipcases)
ok, this seems to be the most reasonable place to post this question, so here goes:
What is the purpose of the slip cases? The only one I've been able to see is better printing on the paper so they can do foils and other effects that might not look so good coming out from under the case's plastic.
Is there another reason for them? It kind of bugs me to have them, but I can't quite bring myself to throw them away because they look nice, but sometimes I like to have all of my stuff look the same on my shelf.
Thoughts?

To kill trees and call them collectibles for the crazy people who value them over the actual content on the disc the crappy piece of cardboard is supposed to "protect".quiden wrote:What is the purpose of the slip cases?
Yeah, they kill trees and use the paper and make them nice and shiny like the discs so people go "Ooh, pretty, me want it!", and grab it.guiden wrote:The only one I've been able to see is better printing on the paper so they can do foils and other effects that might not look so good coming out from under the case's plastic.
I mentioned that it's proof a tree died, right?guiden wrote:Is there another reason for them?
Yeah, I can't bring myself to throw mine away either. It's like, a tree died for the damn thing, so I should respect the tree and keep the ones I still have in memorium. They sit in a nice stack under my desk for now. I found that if I ordered my Disney DVDs on my shelf WITHOUT the slipcovers, I could fit two or three more DVDs than if I did it WITH them. They truly take up more space than one thinks, and are the bane of my existance.guiden wrote:It kind of bugs me to have them, but I can't quite bring myself to throw them away because they look nice, but sometimes I like to have all of my stuff look the same on my shelf.

Well, we had these kind of posts before:
There are some cool slip cases: like the ones used for the Disney PE, others that have shinny effect on them (Finding Nemo/The Incredibles), others with holograms (Ghost Ship/Cabin Fever), others with a 3D effect (TMNT/Dawn of the Dead)...
... and very, very... VERY lame ones that jus reproduce the front cover with no reason whatsoever (Mulan/Pocahontas...), well most of them.
Those are the ones that make no sense.

It's weird because unbeknownst to us but knownst to the slipcover manufacturers, there is subliminal messages all over the slipcover that makes the buyer stare at it admirably for days on end, and buy movies simply for the slipcovers. A slipcover is a DVD parasite, clinging onto the DVD like annoying little buggers and offering no practical use.Robin Hood wrote:Why is it wierd?PaulAtreides wrote:Why would you throw them away?
