Cinderalla Man - Excellent movie! It is everything Million Dollar Baby should have been.

Dukes of Hazzard (2005) - Pretty funny movie. It was interesting watching this version compared to the old tv show. I liked it. It also helped alot that Jessica Simpson was in it!

I have focusing my DVD on the great classics and away from Wal Mart specials. Still I got most of these for under $15. Just seen:

Sunset Boulevard (10+) - Haven't seen it in over 10 years, and it is a perfect movie. Billy Wilder was an underrated genius and this is my favorite of his films. (I like it better than Some Like It Hot or Double Idemnity, both perfect movies as well). I ranked in my top 25 movies of all time.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (10)- A perfect "B" horror/thiller from the 1950's. It builds great paranonia/suspense through its 80 minutes that the left and the right both considered it political statement for their side. (IMO Nothing political other it the fear of complacency in the United States.) Don Siegel & Kevin McCarthy are underrated.

The Player (eight)- One of Altman's more commercial pieces and it is quite good. The murder story is OK but the Altman touches make this a great one. I love how everyone complains that all Hollywood movies are filled with cliches, sex and happy endings and The Player is purposely guilty of all these. The ironic last 10 minutes makes the movie. "Reality is testing poorly in Canoga Park."

Watched a couple of older films today, I am laid up with a severe foot infection for the next five or six days so I am going to get a lot of movies watched. But for today I watched:

Bad Day at Black Rock - One of the better Spencer Tracy films. He portrays a one-armed man who gets off a train in the middle of nowhere and is immediately suspected of every little thing that happens around the town. Tension filled and exciting to the very end.

Almost An Angel - Paul Hogan plays a 'reformed' cat-burglar who takes to robbing banks disguised as celebrities like Willie Nelson and Rod Stewart. On one of his ventures he sees a little boy wander out into the street in front of an oncoming truck and he pushes the kid away and gets hit by the truck. Without giving away to much of the story he believes he is dead and gets a visit from God (who looks a lot like Charlton Heston) and is told to change his ways, and is sent back as a probationary angel. This movie gets funnier every time I see it. If you want to laugh yourself silly, this is the one to see.

Hoppy Serves A Writ - One of the better Hopalong Cassidy westerns from the 40's, and features a very young Robert Mitchum as a wayward gunslinger. Really good shoot'em up cowboy movie.

Films on school yesterday and today:

Madagascar - I watched that film in Geometry class and the film is quite funny and entertaining.

The Polar Express - I watched it in ESE class room. For an odd reason, I left the science class because they're showing a sci-fi film that it doesn't suit my taste. Anyways, "The Polar Express" is an excellent cgi-animated film starring Tom Hanks. The film is actually based on a popular children's book and the movie is quite as good as the book is. I would recommended you to watch it and maybe your family will watch it too for the holidays.

I got to see my first "Netflix" film, Madagascar! I gotta say, I enjoyed it, I really did.

It had quite alot of laughs(most coming from the penguins of course) and I loved how it didn't try to overdue pop-references or fart gags like in Shrek.

However there are still a few "Shrek" moments that were kinda annoying, but overall, a surprisingly fun movie from "Dreamworks" animation and is probably their best film yet!(no don't worry I don't consider Aardman Dreamworks because both of their films were still miles better than Madagascar )

Because I am an 'originals' freak I watched the original AND BEST versions of these good movies:

The Bad News Bears - Jodie Foster and Walter Matthau are a priceless team in this otherwise run of the mill baseball movie. This is the best of the three "Bears" movies, with "Breaking Training" a pretty decent sequel.

The Longest Yard - Proof that Burt Reynolds can act. This is so much better than the 'Sandler-ized' version. In this one 'Caretaker' is played by James Hampton, and you actually care for the guy. Bernadette Peters is the horny young lady in the warden's office that has the 'goods' that Reynolds needs to defeat the guards. Eddie Albert plays the evil Warden.

Fun With Dick and Jane - Probably the best of three listed here. Jane Fonda, George Segal and Ed McMahon star in this social comedy about what happens when a 'space executive' loses his job through no fault of his own. The new version has a total twist on the story that, from watching the previews, doesn't work at all. Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni are no Fonda/Segal in the new version of this great film.

I'm watching The Sandlot... again. I just love this movie growing up but I never owned it until now. So I've been watching it like a million times. It's a really funny movie.

Watched Serenity twice today. It is a real awesome movie and I think it is better in some ways than "Star Wars Revenge of the Sith".

I also picked up "Firefly", used today for $22.99. This is the Fox TV series that was short-lived and spawned Joss Whedon's "Serenity".

TFOTR: I like the starting adventure feel to it and because there are few characters you can easily follow the story.

TTT: I don't actually like how you're introduced to so many characters all of a sudden but once you know them and the action takes place is a great movie; no wonder it was my favorite of the 3 back then... it is just that Fellowship[/b] has been shown so many times you kind of get tired of it.

TROTK: Now, THIS is an AWSEOME movie. Just WAO!!!! I find that the movie has the pace and journey like feeling of the first part (especially the EE; although it feels too long sometimes) and double the action of TT And the moments before the finale are very touching.

The Devil's Advocate: Great movie... but it can feel too "strong" sometimes.

The Ring Two I'm starting to like it more than the first.

The Grudge: just OK. At least it is spooky.

The Ring: Very good scary movie. Sadly there are no tons like them.

Saw King Kong in the theaters the other day... crazy movie. I liked it a lot- it just stressed me out

In order to lighten things up, once we got home, BF and I watched Elf for the first time (had bought it at Gamestop for a little over 3 bucks). It was SO funny!!!! We were laughing the whole time- my fav is when Buddy answers the phone and says "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?"

I tried that once with just the first 2 and I couldn't. As soon as I got to the end of the first disc of TT I was tired of it.

I liked Tatum, but from seeing Freaky Friday '77, I always though Jodie'd be better in the role.

Saw Fun with Dick and Jane. I thought it was better than the original(before everyone flames me, I respond thusly- get over it

), and Alec Baldwin was great as the corporate crook that everyone tries to get back at. I think the reason I liked it better was *SPOILER* the fact that most of Dick's coworkers got new jobs at Enron(takes place in 2000) and talk about how big it will be.
