the 1-disc

and the 2-disc special edition

Do you think it's beautiful or not?
The hell with Buena Vista Nordic...glenn wrote:I just got a mail back from Buena Vista here in Norway where it says:
"Det har blitt tatt en beslutning på nordisk nivå at klassikerne våre kun skal slippes i 1-disk utgaver som et prøveprosjekt. Det betyr at også
L&L kommer i en 1-disk utgave. Så lenge vil det da kun bli utgitt 1-disk utgaver, men det kan være at dette endres."
Transelated: "There has been taken a conclusion on a nordic level that our classics will only be released in 1-disc editions as a try-out project. This means that Lady and the Tramp will also be a 1-disc edition. For now there will only be 1-disc editions, but that might change." (Sorry for the bad transelation!)
Well, there is hope for the future, but it seems that they made up their mind when it comes to LatT. I just hope we get the cinemascope edition and not the full-screen one, but i probably end up buying the US edition where both are included.
If they keep this up and gives us a 1-disc Little Mermaid, I'm going to be mad!
NOT TRUE!! This is...PatrickvD wrote:that 2nd one

This is truly terrible. I was looking forward to a 2-disc edition, and now we're going to have yet another 1-disc PE like Cinderella? This isn't fair, and I hope BV will give us the 2-disc edition after all although that seems unlikely. I really want to have a disc with both English and Finnish dubs, but if these are only going to be offered in a 1-disc set, I'll have to reconsider whether to get this edition or not and buy the 2-disc edition from somewhere instead. Sure, the movie itself is the most important thing here, but I've come to expect many extras from these PE DVDs too, and now it looks like we'll be seeing 1-disc editions in the future. I hope this "experiment" will come to end and we'll once again see the 2-disc editions.Roklie wrote:So there's not really any point in looking forward to any more 2-disc PE releases here in Scandinavia, eh? This really sucks. Now that this is already the second 1-disc release I would love to hear the decision to this sudden move from Buena Vista themselves, I mean have they completely forgotten that there might be collectors and people overall who are interested in having a look at the extras?
Yes, I agree with you on the try-out project thing. It shouldn't be hard to provide subtitles to the extras, but it looks like BV has taken another course of action. I hope this isn't going to be a new trend on future releases, because it would be sad if we only got 1-disc editions of movies such as The Little Mermaid. Only time will tell, I guess.nordic wrote:I don't get it. What's the point in a try-out project, anyway? The disc is already there, the only thing they have to do is provide subtitles, and it's ready for release. Sounds like a cheap-out project to me.
I wonder what it would take to make them release 2-disc versions. Petition, anyone?
