Mickey and the Gang Classic Stories in Verse.
Is anybody else going to be buying a copy of Mickey and the Gang Classic Stories in Verse. There is an interview with the author here. Sounds like something that could tide me over until the wave 5 treasures are released.

I am very excited about this book and can hardly wait until it comes out. I have seen some of the Goodhousekeeping Magazine Disney stories and they are wonderfully done - excellent story and art and I hope the vivid colors are reproduced well. These have never been collected in a book before and the original printings are 60 years or so old. I much look forward to the other book contents, but I mainly want the Goodhousekeeping reprints.Little Red Henski wrote:Is anybody else going to be buying a copy of Mickey and the Gang Classic Stories in Verse. As I mentioned back in August in this thread, I was thrilled to finally get this book yesterday in the mail from Amazon.
I bought the paperback version, but I'm so thrilled with the book that I'm tempted to go ahead and buy the hardcover, even though the covers themselves seem to be the only difference.
I love the thick slick paper covers and the quality slick paper of good thickness for the insides. As I had hoped, there is color throughout the book and the contents are printed clearly, with the colors bright and sharp.
The background information appears to be very well researched and well presented in an entertaining way.
Although I have not completed reading the book, I did look at each page and speed-read through it. I'll take time this weekend to slow down and savor each page of the book.
As a reminder, this book reprints the Disney art and stories that appeared in the Good Housekeeping Magazine in the 1930s and 1940s as part of Disney's marketing. The pages from GHM are wonderfully reprinted, but the extra information is what makes this book so much more special.
I have bought books over the years from Gemstone Publishing and each book has been special. But Gemstone really outdid themselves on this book!!! I'm a bibliophile and have numerous art books, etc. that I love - but this book is already near the top of my all-time favorites.
I believe ANYONE with ANY interest in Disney would love this book - especially if interested in early Disney cartoon shorts and the early animated films.
One note of warning - Gemstone Publishing usually have relatively small print runs on their books. So, if you are interested, I suggest you buy a copy as soon as possible while there are copies available to buy. Also Disney "reference" books such as this generally go out of print quickly.
I love the Walt Disney Treasures DVD sets and look forward to them (Amazon still hasn't shipped mine yet, in spite of e-mail complaints!!!), but this book has made my year as far as favorite collections!!!

Hey Jebsdad!
Glad you like our book! The big difference with the hardcover is that it's a numbered limited edition—and that big, oversized foldout prints of ten of the earliest GH pages are tipped into the volume here and there.
Back in Maryland, we're still mopping our brows, disbelieving that the thing's actually on sale at last. Funny how that works, huh? (-:
