The new print edition of industry crew magazine Below The Line features their customary run down of all the films now shooting, and some of the titles will be of interest to animation fans. While filming on the second Pirates Of The Caribbean adventure is well known to be finished, the crew, under director Gore Verbinski, is back at work on the third film, which is revealed to be carrying the title Pirates Of The Caribbean: Uncharted Waters. The mag indicates that the scheduled wrap for the shoot is early March 2006, just three months before the release in theaters of the second film.

Well, it's no secret that the two sequels were shot more or less similtaneously, with production wrapping on the third one in March after an August 2005 end for Dead Man's Chest. Post-production work on Dead Man's Chest will continue up through the release and then they polish off Uncharted Waters, for release in July 2007 (one year after Dead Man's Chest.)Zoltack wrote:Wow we're just talking about the second POTC and you're already starting to think of the third one.
Think LOTR or the Matrix sequels (or, for that mattter, Back to the Future Parts II and III.) Same thing.

they'll be good. The thing is, all Johnny Depp has to do is... like fart or whatever and people love it. He can do no wrong. And his role in the original film made his name big. I think this back to back sequel idea will work out better than the Matrix Trilogy. And there's a one year wait, wich is better than the weird 6 month wait for a movie that was even worse.

I just hope POTC2 and POTC3 don't suffer the fate of those sequels, getting progressively worse and not living up to the original or even being a good standalone film. BTTF 2 was practically the opposite story and a rehash of BTTF 1 ("go to the past, screw it up, fix it" is now "go to the future, fix it, screw it up, go to the past, fix it again") and BTTF 3 was only good because it was a quasi-western. And of course Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions really seemed more like an extension to the first movie, which had a really good open-ended ending and did not need a sequel (even though many wanted them).Jake Lipson wrote:the Matrix sequels (or, for that mattter, Back to the Future Parts II and III.)

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl"
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men's Chest"
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Uncharted Waters"
Sounds like one kick-ass trilogy to me!
However am I the only one who wished the rumored "Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasure of the Lost Abyss" actually came true.
I remember that was the rumored title for the sequel for a long time! I was a bit disappointed to find out it wasn't because that name was cool!
Oh well, the other titles are pretty good too.
These movies will still rock though! Anything with Johnny Depp is bound to be pure gold!
Plus with the same writers, I don't see how you can do anything wrong!

That does sound awesome! The only thing that worries me is that it reminds me a lot of The never ending Land Before Time series. You think its over, but it just keeps going and going. Are they up to like their 12th movie now?Timon/Pumba fan wrote:"Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl"

Cool name for the last movie.

\/\/hat-ever! Considering the plot of the first film could be written on a post-card, was padded out to over 2 hours by countless pointless pearl hiding/swapping/stealing sequences, and then, at the end of it all still didn't have a definitive ending (hence Barbossa coming back in this). Well, let's see if I can contain my excitement.Timon/Pumba fan wrote:"Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl"

I think by now, we all know you found it to be overlong and repetitive.2099net wrote:\/\/hat-ever! Well, not just that. If you think about the 'cute' 'twist' ending with the monkey, the whole film actually doesn't have an ending. It's just a runaround with little character development beyond the stereotypical boy and girl become seduced by the pirate lifestyle and not-as-harsh-as-he-appears Captain Jack.PatrickvD wrote:I think by now, we all know you found it to be overlong and repetitive.
The whole film was cynical open-end for a sequel. The fact that Barbossa and, by the looks of the cast list, all of his crew are in the sequel shows that Disney's being just as imagnative with this sequel than their "plot rerun" cheapquels everybody here complains about so much. They have a whole world of period histroy to explore, with untold potential for supernatural foes and creations, and Barbossa and his crew are back. So what exactly happened in the first film? All in all, a big fat zero.

I don't believe the original was acclaimed for its story. It was the fun, the thrilling action sequences and above all Johnny Depp. If all of that is back, who cares? You just don't like the original, that's fine. But there has not been a SINGLE dtv that has managed to bring back all of the things that made the original great. I understand your comparison to them (as in, similair plot as the original) but none of them has equaled the original in terms of music, animation, character animation, just a big fat zero. And yes, I've seen about 90% of them. If Pirates 2 manages to equal the original (eventhough it might just repeats itsself) then I think it will satisfy a HUGE audience. Something a direct to video sequel had yet to do.2099net wrote:The whole film was cynical open-end for a sequel. sorry I get really upset when it comes to DTV's. Nobody will ever be able to convince me they were not part of Disney's downfall as the greatest entertainment company in the world. A series like Pirates does the name Disney more justice than dtv's ever will. But that's just my opinion.

Well I was looking for BEST trilogy, and since everyone knows I despise The Lion King (but strangely I enjoy The Lion King 2, I intentionally didn't mention it.Kenai wrote:Since the Lion King trilogy.Escapay wrote:"Pirates of the Caribbean: Uncharted Waters"

And now that I think about it, there IS a great trilogy by Disney: THE MIGHTY DUCKS! But of course, if they're really going forth with that D4 rehash (allegedly, it's now Charlie instead of Gordon who's gonna get stuck with a youth hockey team), then it'll be a quadrilogy, and we'll have to strike it from the trilogies that Disney has (and I can't think of any other good ones except the Honey, I.... series)
