More Warner Bros. Cartoons coming to DVD in February/March

I wonder what the 3rd Hanna-Barbera set will be - this things normally come in 3s (apart from the Wacky Races spin-offs wave)

At first, I thought this thread would be announcing that the Golden Collection would be going to twice a year.

My reaction too.. WB needs to understand that twice keeps the fans coming back for more. Or better yet, they release a complete set of the master MGM work, Tex Avery.

Oh yes, Mr. Toad, do you anything about the Cartoon Adventures Starring Gerald McBoing Boing?

MGM - while their stuff is no where near Disney or Warner Brothers, Tex was brilliant. Unfortunately, MGM does not seem to value their stuff very highly and have heard no rumblings of this. I know there were petitions and pleas for the residents fo the Animation History Forum(which now seems to be deceased).

Looney Toons - Their are far more Looney Toons than Disney shorts(once you discount the Educational, Armed Forces etc), so it is going to take a lot longer to get them all out. It would take 17 Golden Collections to have a complete Looney Toons collection. Warner Brothers has already committed to so two a year would be nice. Of course the remastering and bonus materials time is significant. And they have been really good to us so far.

Doesn't WB own the MGM classic cartoons as they released the T&J series and Turner Entertainment released the Tex Laserdiscs? Also, some of the MGM cartoons show up as extras on some of the Warners Night At The Movies. (I got Wags To Riches on The Barkleys On Broadway.)

IMO, Tex was always a Looney Tune at heart and even when he was not housed at Termite Terrace. I agree the MGM other series, Happy Harmonies, Tom & Jerry, and That Bear who couldn't sleep, were good cartoons but not equal to the Looney Tunes. (Of course, what is? Hell, I even love the Ising Merry Melodies but the Bosko/Buddys are kinda lame.)

As for Gerald, I will probably get it just because the first cartoon is such a classic and the DVD is only about $10.

It may take less than 17 sets because it appears we are getting the Bosko and Buddys as vault extras. Considering WB is going to be running out of documentary material, I suspect the extra material is going to filled up Bosko/Buddy toons.

Warner Brothers is also releasing Season Sets of Batman Beyond and Justice League.
