Disney treasures with tin or without tin??

Hi there all, when I started buying the “Disney treasures” it was already too late to find the first two “waves” series on stores, and when I turn to amazon I have been found that some places sell the dvds with the tin case and others not, my question is if both of the presentations are originals, thanks for reading.

The tins are numbered and are a limited edition.

The ones without the tins might be originals or most likely they are reissues that costco and other places got.

Personally I get the tins only because I am a completist. I'm not really a collector per say.

Some of the sets sold through Amazon Marketplace don't come with the tins, though I'm not really sure why. Maybe they are bootlegs. I bought a couple through there, but they came in the original tins.

Don't worry about the ones that come without the tins. I bought two from the first two waves and I don't care that I don't have the tins- I just really wanted the material on them, and they were much cheaper without the tins.

These were issued in the multipacks of Wave 1&2 (7 Treasures total) that were sold at Costco and through the Disney Movie Club. There were approx 11,000 sets sold like this.

If you are crazy about being a collector/completist, be prepared to shell out for the tin ones. If you are more interested in the actual material, just get the ones w/o the tins. Also, there is no lithograph in the non-tin ones.

I've been looking on amazon for the treasures series, but no seller could actually tell me if they are selling the ones with or without the tin. Because I live in europe, and only 4 treasures have been released here I have no choice but to look on the internet to buy them. I'm a collector, so really like to have the tin Does anyone here knows some internet store where they sell the treasures with the tin? (btw already tried playusa.com, they told me they had no info whether they came with the tin, and I'm currently looking for donald V2, rarities and maybe mickey mouse club) Hope you guys can help me out

If you buy new (not used) Treasures from stores such as amazon, they definitely should come with tins. The R1 WDT were never released without tins - except a few thousand sets of the 2001-2002 Treasures packaged into one box.

Donald vol 2, Rarities and probably MMC are easy to find. amazon is all right, but I'd recommend dvdpacific.com.

I think that all Region 1 Treasures except those originally released in multi-pack sets have tins, so you should be fine.

Within this topic, I have a question regarding the tins.

I have all of the Waves of Walt Disney Treasures, but I don't leave them in their tins because of my filing order. If you leave them in the tins you don't which is which because there is not title on the edge of the tins.

How do tell who is what without pulling each of them out until you find what you are looking for?

I find that not having them in the tins they still look great and they are easier to find when you are filing them in alphabetical order. I am seriously thinking about just tossing the tins.

The blue bands from waves 1 and 2 have them visible on the sides..
Others you can't really tell..

Some options for non Collectors

I really like the shorts in this “Treasures” but I am not a collector then to me the tins are meaningless but I was really interested in acquiring some of this dvd’s from the early waves then I saw the ones in Europe, but they are PAL an region 2, but now I have been found the ones made for Mexico and other Hispanic countries and they are NTSC and region 1 & 4, with a English language besides Spanish, I think this ones really work for me, now I am in the process of acquiring Mickey M. In living color and Silly S. Or Should I said “M.M. a todo color” y “Sinfonias Bobas”...

How do tell who is what without pulling each of them out until you find what you are looking for?

The majority of the tins still have the cardboard bands. Further I have a strong sense of which Treasures belong beside each other. Basically I just know where they stand when I look at my shelf - the DD volumes after MM and so on.

When I say 'toss the tins' I don't mean that I will throw them away. I will just keep them in a drawer until they become really hgh-priced collector's items.
No way would I ever just throw the tins away. Ignorant of their value I am not.

Does anyone have a gross estimate off how much space the complete Treasures Collection to date would take up if you got all TINS or if you got as many of the non-TIN (not bootleg) releases as possible. I'm a pseudo-collector but don't like the idea of having tons of stuff sitting all around my house. My primary concern is the content, but the allure of owning a collectible that may appreciate is not far behind. I know you can stash the TINS away but again, whether it is shelf space or storage space, I don't minmize the "bulk" of things that I accumulate in this short life (I guess I should just be renting then?

There might be a little bit of shelf savings by taking the DVDs out of the tins, but it's not a lot. I own all 5 waves of Treasures and it takes up about 2 feet of shelf space (or about the length of my DVD player). I did take the DVDs out once to see how much shelf space I would save, but it wasn't all that much. Then there's the second consideration-where do you store the tins if you take the DVDs out? Better to leave them in the tins, then you're only using one space, instead of two, to store the whole package (tins and DVDs).
