There is actually a town called Springfeild in Ohio or is it Illinois. I don't know, I need a map... I lost my map.

Really? I don't think we have one of those in Colorado but if you say so. Maybe I should go over there and say hello to Homer.Alan wrote:I read everywhere that almost all of the states have a town named "springfield" so not just Ohio or Illinois.Zoltack wrote:It's in... O'Hia Mod!

Nope, that honor goes to another show set in a fictional Springfield, (The) Guiding Light!Zoltack wrote:It would be the longest running show ever
And if some ignoramus comes in and says "but that doesn't count, it's a soap opera", be prepared for a long and deserving tirade from me. You have no idea how frickin' pissed I always was whenever I read in Guinness World Records that Coronation Street was the longest running entertainment show (they have since corrected that mistake in recent editions of their book). Corrie debuted EIGHT YEARS after Guiding Light.
Though of course, GL would also be incorrect as longest running show ever, because Meet The Press has been running longer, I think since the late 40s. But MTP is a news show, whereas GL is an entertainment show.

GL and soap operas in general may not be respected in the mainstream media, but it/they hold a special place in my heart and the hearts of many a soap fan. To have an ignorant young fool dismiss it with a "that's pathetic" and not know at all what it is they're dismissing is very insulting to the genre and to its fans. Have you actually watched a soap opera? And no, a "five minutes and I changed the channel" doesn't count. Have you invested yourself in the characters and the storylines long enough to realize what the genre is? Or are you one of the masses that decide "it's a soap, a breeding ground for bad acting, so I'm not gonna watch it at all but I feel I'm justified to knock it every chance I get".DisneyFan 2000 wrote:LOL, that's pathetic!Escapay wrote:(The) Guiding Light: June 27, 1952 to Present (Television)Escapay
