When Does ABC have it's Season Opening at Disneyworld?
When Does ABC have it's Season Opening at Disneyworld?
I was just wandering if anyone knows when this is held and if anyone has been to it before? If so is the park anymore crowded at this time?

Not sure about the ABC opening @ WDW....unless you're talking about the golf tourney that is in September.
** But ABC Super Soap Weekend is usually the 1st or 2nd weekend in Nov
** Taping for the VMCP on ABC for xmas day (hosted by Regis & Kelly) is the first weekend of Dec.
Both of these weekends are crazy busy but both can be alot of fun.
Now if only Disney can get DOOL on ABC then I'll make it a point to go to WDW for Super SOap weekend-hee hee.

The 10th SSW is Nov. 12 and 13 this year, unfortunately sister Jane and I aren't going (even though we say every year, "THIS is the year we are going!")Fidget1234 wrote: ** But ABC Super Soap Weekend is usually the 1st or 2nd weekend in Nov

I remember back in the summer of 1998 when DOOL and NBC had a few blows, and there was talk that come Spring 1999, DOOL would move to ABC, who'd make room for it by shortening OLTL to a half-hour and canceling PC.
And of course, back in 2003, DOOL was thisclose to being canceled again (ratings REALLY went down), and there was rumors of it being bought by ABC again rather than cancel. Instead, the numbskulls of NBC decided to get James E. Reilly (JERk to his non-fans) to do double duty and write both DOOL and Passions. Would've been easier for NBC to just bring back Brash & Cwikly, who had brought DOOL up in the ratings, before they were replaced by Higley, who brought it to the near-cancellation status.

Imagine capacity at studios. THAT is Super Soap Weekend. The fans can be kinda star-crazed....hee hee.

Ugh, don't remind me about the 4th! I think if I can, during the summers, I'll schedule it so I have the 4th off, which IS possible (a CP was mistakenly given the 4th off, and he didn't say a word, so while all of us were busting our butts, he was having fun in the park)Fidget1234 wrote:Hey Escapay- remember how busy 4th of July week can be for wdw?

I have read reports about how SSW's are, and they do sound brutal (get to the gates at 6 am just to get fastpasses for autograph signings?? GMAB!)
I remember when DCA first opened, they had a Soap Friday or something, where 2 stars from GH and 2 from PC would come to the park on Fridays to promote the Soap Opera Bistro (now replaced with Playhouse Disney, boo) and sign some autographs. I think it only lasted less than a year, and when we went to DCA for the first and only time in August 2001, I was able to snag Brian Presley and Nancy Lee Grahn's autographs. Looking back, Jane and I are kicking ourselves for not getting Kelly Monaco's. At the time, though, we weren't big fans of Livvie, lol. Now, Jane's one of Sam's biggest supporters, and I wouldn't have minded meeting a former Playboy Playmate...

OH & THEY DO!!! The fans arent allowed to park/sleep overnite in the parking lot/at the gates & the earliest they were allowed to start lining up is 5:30-6AM & some were given bracelets for certain celebs.Escapay wrote:

It was nuts. Not a fun weekend to be working...
I heard a story in the back-stage restroom from one of the actresses (she played a villianess I guess) said some crazy fan poured a soda on her because she didn't like her character on the show...some people forget it's just a show. I didnt catch her name-but she was a brunette in her late 30s/early 40s & she played a villianess on one of the ABC Soaps.

Yes ABC is owned by Disney. They show Wonderful World of Disney once a week & ABC Kids featuring Disney Channel shows on Saturday morning...though I remember Saturday Morning cartoons being cartoons... when I was young w/ the exception of Pee-Wees Playhouse & Ernests' show.memnv wrote:ABC is the station that has or had Wonderful World of Disney. Don't they also play the Disney toons Saturday morning
But I guess w/ Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, & Toon Disney when u can watch toons 24/7 there is really no need for specialty cartoons like that anymore.
