I actually am disapointed from what I have read of the plot. When I heard it was Tim Allen, I got really excited. I assumed he would be playing the father. I never dreamed that the story would be about him becoming the dog. It could be good, but I would rather them make it more like the original. This and "Herbie: Fully Loaded" starring Lindsay Lohan don't sound like very good remakes to me.

Tra la la... *tries to set a good example for the forum, by posting in an existing thread* :P

So, does anyone else find the <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/intheaters.html#sd">new <I>Shaggy Dog</I> one-sheet</a> that Luke posted on the main page a wee bit creepy? I mean, it's nothing more than a bearded collie with human eyes! O_o

Something so profoundly wrong about that... like the CG humans in Polar Express...

At least from the bits of footage on other DVDs, the dog doesn't appear to be CGI or CGI-enhanced in the actual movie. That'd be kind of lame. As it is, for some reason, I have higher hopes for this than I have for a live action Disney comedy in as long as I can remember. Looking forward to seeing a proper trailer, which is supposedly running before <i>Chicken Little</i>.

:o TAKE THAT BACK!!! :x :P

Anyway the dog kinda looks like Tim Allen! :D

Overall I've somewhat enjoyed Disney's remakes the past years, even if I haven't seen the original Shaggy Dog, I'm somewhat interested in this.

But I'm with Pals, lets hope Swiss Family Robinson gets delayed so Tim Allen can play Mr. Robinson! :)

Oh, I wasn't inferring that the film itself had any weird "touch-ups" on the dog - and indeed, it does look like a normal ol' bearded collie in the film, which is definitely a good thing. ;) But I dunno who in the Disney P.R. team thought that that would make an attractive teaser poster! :P

And Lukester, are you sure you're not just interested in Shaggy Dog because of the do-no-evil Tim Allen? :D

NEVAH!! Polar Express enters the dark realm of the <a href="http://www.arclight.net/~pdb/nonfiction ... l">Uncanny Valley</a>, and it violates my eyes!

But yeah, I think the intended effect was to make the dog reminiscently Tim Allen-ish by slapping Allen's eyes onto a dog face. Didn't work too well, imo.

That must be it, but it's more like do-no-evil...under-the-Disney-name Tim Allen! After all, he can do plenty of evil, even when it's still Disney but not under the Disney name. Actually, <i>Joe Somebody</i> isn't really evil (<i>Christmas with the Kranks</i> may qualify, when I finally see that), but in any event, I probably <i>am</i> setting myself up for disappointment. At the very least, we'll have Tommy Kirk and Dean Jones barkin' it up on Disney DVD before next year's end! And you can never have enough TK and DJ on Disney DVD, covered with fur or not.

It looks way too cheesy. I don't think anyone is going to look at this poster and say, I can't wait to see this! I'm definitely going to wait for the DVD.

First, there was the original 1959 version with Fred MacMurray (from "My Three Sons"), and then the 1994 TV remake with Ed Begley Jr. and now the newest version with Tim Allen. I hope if this movie would do even more than both the 1959 and the 1994 versions of the same movie.

REMAKES SUCK!!!!

It just shows Hollywood's lack of imagination and originality. I for one avoid remakes at all cost. Sometimes a friend will take me to see one, such as "The Longest Yard", which I hated, but when I heard that they were remaking "The Shaggy Dog" with Tim Allen, I wanted to upchuck lunch. And from the plot line it looks like they are combining "Shaggy Dog" and "Shaggy D.A." for the story.

Please Hollywood, PUUULLLLLEEEEEZZZZEEEEE!!!!! Let's get some imagination and originality and bring in some new writers and quit with the remakes. They are never as good as the originals and for most of us who remember the original we are soured on the whole company not just the product.

"Herbie Fully Loaded" was not a remake. It was a differently told story of the adventures of the little Volkswagen. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and am happy to have it my collection right along side "The Love Bug Collection".
