Paying $100.00 for an out of print treasure isn't exciting.Alan wrote:But Disney's plan makes collecting treasures really fun and exciting.

Shorts not mentioned by anyone
Unless I'm mistaken nobody mentioned the two shorts called "How to Have an Accident at Work" and "How to Have an Accident at Home" I can't remember when they were made. They had Donald Duck and J.J. Fate (I think that was his name). They were two of my favorites.

One is from 1956, the other from 1959...so it's quite likely neither will appear in Volume 3.

But you have to put on a silly hat and go "Brooom" while you are doing it.

Disney Lover wrote:I'm bumping this topic to ask a question on the Treasures. Do you guys think Disney will re-release the older Treasure sets? I've missed the earlier ones and they only way to get them now is to pay an arm and leg for them so I am hoping Disney will do like they do with their movies and re-release them after a time.

With the seven on the "Rarities" treasure, this only makes 26. So what happened to the remaining 30? It's hard to believe there are no prints left anywhere on Earth.Little Red Henski wrote:Disney has 19 Alice shorts in there vault not on the Rarities set according to the book Walt in Wonderland.
Alice's Fishy Story
Alice the Peacemaker
Alice and the Three Bears
Alice Cans the Cannibals
Alice the Toreador
Alice Gets Stung
Alice Loses Out
Alice [Gets] Stage Struck
Alice Solves the Puzzle [a censored print]
Alice Wins the Derby
Alice's Tin Pony
Alice Chops the Suey
Alice the Jail Bird
Alice Plays Cupid
Alice on the Farm
Alice’s Balloon Race
Alice’s Orphan
Alice in the Wooly West
Alice’s Circus Days
add the Laugh o'Grams and there is more than enough matrerial for a second rarites set.

Treasures Quantity
I can't believe that it's less than two weeks until these titles are released and we still do not know the maximum pressings of these sets?? These must already be in some warehouse, boxed and waiting to be shipped out next week.
Also, it would be a nice surprise to see Roy's name back on the front on a nice blue band like the original releases. Wasn't Roy allowed back into the Magic Kingdom as part of his agreement to end his Save Disney Campaign??

I don't have a Sorcerer Mickey hat, so can I use my Indiana Jones one? Can I say "Wahooo!!" instead of "Broooom"?Loomis wrote:Sounds perfect, but don't forget to say "Broooom".Mr. Toad wrote:Loomis - is my Mickey's Sorcerer's hat silly enough?

One should never say never - some of those no longer known to exist could show up somewhere sometime.TM2-Megatron wrote:With the seven on the "Rarities" treasure, this only makes 26. So what happened to the remaining 30? It's hard to believe there are no prints left anywhere on Earth.
But it is an unfortunate fact that old films go missing. I wouldn't expect all of Disney's early films to ever come back.

As usual, I'll be getting all four. I don't think it's such a crime that some of the Donald shorts from "OTFL" are duplicated here. Not everyone is going to go out and buy all the sets, so people who may have opted not to get the war shorts will still have a "Complete" Donald collection (as the title indicates).
Actually, the two that excite me the most are the "Rarities" set and the "Spin & Marty" set. I'm a big fan of vintage animation (Winsor McCay, Ub Iwerks, etc.), so it'll be interesting to look at some restored old "Alice" comedies. I also remember when the Disney Channel was in it's infancy, they used to show episodes of the original "Mickey Mouse Club" at around 6:00 in the morning. I used to get up hours before school to go downstairs and watch those old shows...I was fascinated with them...especially the Spin & Marty series.
Anyway, a good set all in all. One week and counting!

Disney Rarities - 125,000 copiesghost999 wrote:I can't believe that it's less than two weeks until these titles are released and we still do not know the maximum pressings of these sets?? These must already be in some warehouse, boxed and waiting to be shipped out next week.
Spin and Marty - 125,000 copies
Elfego Baca / Swamp Fox - 125,000 copies
Chronological Donald 2 - Don't know about that one. Haven't got it yet!
YESSSS !!!!!!Also, it would be a nice surprise to see Roy's name back on the front on a nice blue band like the original releases. Wasn't Roy allowed back into the Magic Kingdom as part of his agreement to end his Save Disney Campaign??
*** Roy Disney's signature is indeed present on this year's treasures!!!! ***
But it must have been added at the very last minute, since it's not paired with Leonard Maltin's signature. Instead, Roy's name is on the gray area between the "specifications box" and the "timeline box".
No blue band, though. Roughly the same design as last year's wave, except for the plastic keepcase which is black and appears to be from a different manufacturer.

I got all of them today, except for The Chronological Donald 2. The glued cardboard back is the same as last year. And there's the same slightly defective "D" in Disney on the tin.Joe Carioca wrote:Have you already gotten the Treasures?
Could you tell us if the tins are the same as last years - with that cheapo cardboard back cover glued on the tin instead of printed?
