TV Special information...
DuckTales: The pilot episode first aired on September 11, 1987. I think this actually was split up into five episodes from the get-go...I'd still prefer it in a full-length movie format...
Rescue Rangers: The concept began life as a two hour standalone television special, Rescue Rangers: To the Rescue.
TaleSpin: In the original two hour pilot 'Plunder & Lightning,' there was a song where Rebecca sings a lullaby to Molly while Kit listened in. It was most likely edited out due to time restraints when it divided into a four part episode for syndication. Original air date for the movie was Sept. 7, 1990. The series started the following Monday (9/10/1990).
Darkwing Duck: This two-part episode originally aired as an hour-length TV special on the Disney Channel on April 6, 1991.
Goof Troop debuted April 15, 1992, on The Disney Channel, but that pilot wasn't followed up with a regular series until September.

Liked the Ductales review even though the only 2 episodes i really remember from that set are The one with the Earthquake I know it's on the 3rd disc just don't remember the name and number, and Master of the Dijinni since they were on an old tape that i used to rent. Also I so remember The Rescue Rangers theme song at least in my head, Since the last time i saw it was on an old Vhs tape rented of course.

I'm kind of mad, Walmart had Chip N Dale but no Ducktales but at least it was only $25. Also I like the day the discs are one some of the previous DVD box sets i have gotten for example Pokemon Master Quest Box 1 it was the size of a normal Dvd but these phamplets at least on Chip N Dale are a lot smaller.

IGN has a review of Chip n' Dale here.
Is it just me, or has Disney been sporting a lazy, "Meh, it's good enough" attitude lately? First the obvious lack of effort on the Tarzan and TENG re-releases, and then the audio/video quality and lack of extras for these season sets. I hope this doesn't continue.

The IGN review was rather good, considering.
BTW, here are current Amazon.com rankings, including Disney Top 100, and today's other releases:
Cinderella: #7
Disney Princess Christmas Of Enchantment: #71
Incredibles, The: #73
DuckTales (Volume 1): #98
Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers (Volume 1): #171
Tales Of Avonlea (Season 1): #725
Five Mile Creek (Season 1): #1847
I cannot believe DuckTales has made the Top 100! And with ZERO marketing! Maybe this will make Disney reconsider on their next release.

"With great power comes great responsiblity."
I've noticed that. The fact that they didn't restore the original bumpers back in to the episodes of "DuckTales" (though I think this was also done for the previous VHS tapes) doesn't have me happy with them either. When I read Luke's reviews for the last "Home Improvement" and "Boy Meets World" sets, I knew the warning bells were going off.Pasta67 wrote:

Luke, I read the review for "DuckTales" this morning, but just now coming on to post about it. I've been reading the reviews for awhile now, and all of you at this site do an excellent job.

I mean i dont want to support Disney with their half assed efforts but i mean , i worked for them for a while from an outlet that has alot to do with money and how the company uses it...and i can certainly tell you the last thing Disney wants especially these days. So i mean they are still very wary of the boxset market...especially with shows such as Ducktales and Chip and Dale (and any old/recent cartoon). They have no clue how profitable this market is to them, so their opening attempts are going to be very simplistic. Example: Gargoyles...sure we wouldve loved a huge making of,behind the scenes...but did they know if it would sell. Gargoyles is no Thundercats or Transformers in "nostalgia" to the masses...so the opening attempt for Gargoyles was the episdoes and some light extras...honestly i was satisfied because I was glad to even think of it released.
Agreed, Disney could have easily put promos or commercials into this set and it would have been a very easy thing, so in that aspect im dissapointed...but 27 episodes? and if you get them this week at best buy its only 24.99...thats roughly 1 dollar an episode. Not a bad deal if you ask me...hopefully Ducktales and Chip and Dale will sell well enough to warrant more Disney Afternoon shows, and future seasons with maybe some bonus features...but for an opening venture into future animated box sets...i think disney has released an very reasonanble set for these shows...
Most of my friends want it and have not asked about features...they just wanna watch the show.

Disney TV cartoons
I am realy not a fan of these TV cartoons with the exceptions of the theme songs which can be easily found on www.retrojunk.com. However, when I was a child, in the 1980's I had a video of "DuckTales" titled "Accidental Adventures" and that was pretty good. and I also had the movie "Treasure of the Lost Lamp". Subsequently, when I was older, I borrowed a "Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers" video from the library titled "Undercover Critters" featuring "The Fat Cat Stomp". So as I mentioned above I am really not a fan of the TV cartoons. Mainly I am a fan of the Disney cartoons from the classic era.

That's what I LOVE about them. Ive been emailing Disney for years telling them to switch to the think packs for the 30 min shows. I love the think packs. For Tv-on-DVD, packaging is a HUGE factor for me. If its not packaged nicely I get sooo PO'd!Robin Hood wrote:The only thing that bothers me about these sets is the packaging. Murder, She Wrote already takes up enough space as it is.
