"Vault Disney" Opening

I found this great opening to "Vault Disney". I wanna thank James Keeline for this opening clip. I know you fans who missed the overnight block when it was on the old Disney Channel. I want you see this terrific opening. After the opening to "Vault Disney", they will show a few seconds of the opening to "Disney's Wonderful World of Color". That might be interesting to see. I remember seeing this! I love the whole ride thing and I had wished I was actually in the ride. Good times. I wonder when was the last time I saw that, it brought back so many memories.

Ahhh....How great Disney Channel used to be. Is it just me or does The Disney Channel now seem like a channel filled with kids shows and sparingly added Disney Feature Films? It used to be ALL Disney. "Brandy & Mr. Whiskers" & "Phil of the Future" have replaced Vault Disney? *sigh*

Like I said, I used to taped a lot of old Disney live action films as well as TV movies and specials off of the old Disney Channel for several years where "Vault Disney" was an overnight block of classic Disney programming. I was sleeping while my timer was on my VCR. The opening was so cool. I usually love openings used to start on every show or a movie since "Vault Disney" came on with a ride. Just like they did back when they used to have openings for every Disney or non-Disney movie from example "The 8 O'Clock Movie" or other source from a long time ago. Great to see that opening.

Wait a minute- when did The Disney Channel debut on TV? I remember watching Welcome to Pooh Corner and Dumbo's Circus on it when I was really young (the '80s). But when did it first become pay? It had to be in like '94, right?

Wrong! I think the Disney Channel first came on the air back in 1983. I do remember all of these shows that Disney Channel first came on like "Good Morning, Mickey!", "Mousercise", "Mouseterpiece Theatre" with the late George Plimpton, the guy who does the old Intelivision commercials. "Donald Duck Presents", "You and Me Kid" and "DTV". Those shows bring back memories from the good old days of the old DC. I remember back when I was a kid, I used to watch the Disney Channel down in Puerto Rico since it first came on.

I believe it was on April 1st, 1978 when it was April Fools Day when the first Disney films were shown on Pay-TV. On April 18th, 1983, Disney Channel began operation. That's what it says in the book.

Thanks for posting this... I remember it well too. I wish this opening and the '90s Wonderful World of Disney opening would find their way on DVD where they can be preserved. I love things like this that put various Disney properties together.

I remember my mom and I one night decided to sleep in front of the T. V. I remember being 8 years old and I woke up before she did and there it was; a tele-a-thon on buying the Disney Channel. I watched and watched all the movies that came on that morning and when my mom awoke she began watching with me, and enjoyed it as much as I did, so after watching them advertise the 1-800 number for the 20th time I finally got up the courage to ask "Momma can WE get the Disney Channel?" just knowing she would say no, but I had to press my luck. She got right up and called the number and ordered the channel, I just layed there in amazement, I could not believe my mom did that for me. So the year was good ole 1983 the year my stinky little brother was born. I remember it like it was yesterday.

But I am like everyone else in my age who grew up watching the Disney Channel; what in the world happened to it? I don't honestly think Mr. Walt Disney himself would be proud of what they have put on a channel (Clearly) dedicated to him.

Here's a random question; did they ever have Vault Disney section on the Disney Channel in England? I have never had it, so I was wondering if us Brits got it.

Anyway, thanks for this little thing, as it was cute. I'm like Aaron in that I like various bits of Disneydom strung together in some way. I also like the TCM goes Disney concept of Vault Disney; it's a shame that this kind of thing all ended. You know, they could easily add a nightime block to the Playhouse Disney channel (they have that here, and could introduce it in America), and devote it to vintage stuff. Oh well.

Thanks for sharing my memory about the glory days of the old Disney Channel. I still missed Vault Disney as an overnight block of classic Disney programming. Like I said in the words of Bob Hope, "Thanks for the memory".

I used to watch Vault Disney all the time. My family had to move in 1998 and we couldn't afford to subscribe the satilitte tv anymore so I spent the next several months recording as much Vault Disney and Zorro as possible. I have well over a dozen 6-Hour length tapes filled with Disney films, cartoons and tv shows.

Unfortunately I didn't realize my VCR would rewind the tapes by several minutes when I would put it back in to record some more and about half my tapes cut off the endings to various shows and movies.

It would be nice if Disney started a complete Vault Disney Channel like Nick At Nite's TV Land.

I loved Vault Disney on the Disney channel. I was able to see films that I hadn't seen since the BETA days (this was before DVD was really popular and Disney started releasing their classics on DVD). I saw movies like Blackbeard's Ghost, The Ghosts of Buxley Hall, The North Avenue Irregulars, Sammy the Way-Out Seal and Snowball Express. I loved the DTV videos they would show when normally commercials would. Those took me back to the DTV Valentine's Specials that ran in the 80's. Ink and Paint Club was fun to watch as well as The Mickey Mouse Club and Spin and Marty.

I once e-mailed Disney why they took Vault Disney away. The response that I got back was that Disney Channel was aimed more at younger audiences, and that their programming needed to appeal to the ages of 5-17 or 18. What I wondered was when Vault Disney usually aired, (from about 11 pm central time until 3 or 4 am), was it that important to be attracting young audiences from 11-4 am? Hmmmmm. I then requested that they begin a Vault Disney channel, but obviously never got a response.
