How have you dealt with missing orders on the Net?

Post by Evil Genie Jafar »

We all must have had a problem (or close to one) with an order we have placed on a site.

You know: the order doesn't arrive, it gets lost, they don't want to replace it....

How have you dealt with this?

PS

I'm posting this because I think it can help lots of us.

It depends on the site.

I can't say that I have had TOO many missing orders, but when you order as much stuff as I do, especially when they have to cross the ocean, something is bound to go astray.

Amazon have been impeccable in their responses to missing items, often sending out replacements with out so much as a further query (they have done this for damaged or faulty goods as well). So, unless there is a huge price difference, I tend to go with them. It was simply a matter of an e-mail to their customer service.

Deep Discount DVD, on the other hand, I have only shopped with twice, but never again. I recently ordered an item that had not arrived after over 2 months (with an estimated 10-20 days shipping time), and it took about SEVEN emails for them to finally issue a replacement. Often they would send back an email telling me it had shipped, or just repeating the information I had already given them. Finally, today - after two weeks worth of emails - I get confirmation that a replacement is being shipped.

Generally speaking, each website will have its own customer service policy or advice on how to apply for a lost package. Some places, especially with international sales, will not take responsibility for stuff lost in the post.

The simply answer is: call or email them!

I've never had a missing order but I did receive my Sleeping Beauty CE with Disc 1 missing , it was unsealed and with a shattered case. The envelope was still perfectly sealed.
I emailed the site straight away to report a problem, and instead of just waiting for a reply I phoned them aswell using the number on their help page. They were hugely helpful and sorted it put straight away.

order problems

Post by Joshrzmeup »

My mom had that problem just before christmas, a cd she had ordered for me hadn't come (Beu Sisters: Decisions), and it got lost somewhere between kentucky and Ohio (where I live). So, she e-mailed and called them and the post office where they said they had sent it to, because at first they said it was just sitting in kentucky for a few days waiting to be shipped.
So, they refunded her money and sent a replacement cd, and then a few days later, the original cd arrived, which she sent back.
But if you order, order from amazon.com, because they actually seem to care.

I had the same problem with deepdiscountdvd. I ordered once trough them and it took more than a month for my order to arrive. I e-mailed them countless times and I never got a response. Anyways, my order arrived. Since then I promised to never order from them again but since they have the best prices and this time I paid for second day delivery I'm guessing there shouldn't be a problem this time. If there is, they'll have to hear me.

There was this time I ordered a $150 TV series ($80 from them) and the order never arrived. I called them, they gave me all possible options and realizing the package got lost, sent me a replacement that arrived very soon. Funny thing is that a couple of days after I got the lost package (and eventually the new one as well).

Right now I placed an order trough bestprices.com since Feb. 20 and nothing. I sent them 3 e-mails already. On one they said: "it's already shipped" (as if I didn't knew that already :x) Then my second one was: "I already know that, what I want to know is where is it?" And them: "Oh, we're sorry. We didn't understand before. Your order seems to be late" :? :x ) My third e-mail didn't get any response and today I sent another one. This time I said that if they don't tell me what's going on I'm going to call them and I won't be nice.

PS

Some people just don't care for their customers when it's on the Net. They think even if they're problems people won't do anything.... Sadly. most of the times they're right: people will just keep on e-mailing them and nothing more. If their order doesn't arrive, then they decide just not to order from them again.

I have spent over $1000 at deepdiscount but never had a problem. Only time of something close is I ordered something and it was on backorder. It took them a few weeks to get it in, but I was patient and received it soon after.

I order from Amazon.com and only had one bad delivery. We contacted the website and told them of our dilemma -- the dvd was late. The dvd we ordered FINALLY arrived a few days after. Of course, the dvd's plastic holders snapped off and the dvd itself was in BAD shape. So we contacted Amazon and complained. They sent us a new DVD and we returned the damaged one, free of charge.

Another story? My mom had ordered a Beatles dvd on Barnes and Noble. But it never came when the site said it would arrive. So my mom called B&N and complained. They sent another dvd, free of charge, and a few days after receiving the the replacement dvd, the original dvd had arrived. So she returned the original dvd.

Whew!

I got a bad delivery from Amazon about a week ago... I received my copy of Dinosaur unsealed. I check the inside (which is the most important thing, right?) and it was all good. So I decided to keep it instead of receiving a different copy.

I guess this counts...

I ordered my college books online this semester and all but ONE came in.

So I got pretty pissy with the seller (it was EBAY.). After 2 months, still no book and a loss of $70.00 (which could've been used for DVDs man! :p) HECK YEA, I'LL COMPLAIN...and I won't stop.

Well, I filed my claim and both EBAY & PAYPAL sided with me; I got my money back. But man...what a waste of time and what a hassle!

I should've gotten her phone number. Then I'd show her how the K of RJKD can be a <strike>W</strike>itch on the phone. don't test my patience.

So in answer to your question, I complain and annoy until I feel I am satisfied with my order. (if things can just go right..then there would be no need for all this right? ;))

Well, EGJ, some of us read how you've dealt with your online orders! But I'm glad...that in the end, the items arrived! :thumb:

I'm fed up with Deepdiscountdvd.com!!!

This is the last time I place an order with them. The last time I had so many problems with them I had to place this post.

Now, I again ordered with them, The order was suppose to arrive Nov. 4 and it still hasn't. I sent them e-mails and they always repllied with nonsense stuff. Today I called them and they said: "you'll have to wait 5 more days before we can call the order lost and send a new one".

And the way they treated me: I was like: "well, you max estimated arrival was on Nov. 4" and she was : "well, SIR, you'll have to wait until Wed." As if she was upset because I called.

Funny thing is: 1) they don't say you have to wait even more for the order placed and 2) you have to wait longer for an order placed, even if it gets lost; they won't send it through a faster service but they are quick to charge you at moment anyways. :x :x :x :x

well i am suprised :!: i have had exactly the opposite.deep discount have got dvd's to me quicker than most, & i am in uk. my account lets me know when its out of stock & wont charge till they have it in, & answer e-mails by the next day. can also be cheapest ESPECIALLY with overseas post. now, amazon managed to lose my order of about $500 & had me pushed from pillar to post & phoning the dispatchers in my country for days who had the paperwork saying they had the parcel but no parcel. i was given stupid instructions like check it is not left with a neighbour.so to answer your question, iobject to it but had to write a nasty letter demanding my money back to get anywhere. i now use them as a last resort. no problems yet but not cheap on post.
They've found it, they've found Noah's ark, & other stuff!

I have had some instances when a package arrives on my mailbox and a random car/walker sees it and takes it. That is what I don't like about delivery-Its public. Anybody can go through your mailbox and take anything they want.
