Darn, Disney can't even come together with a motion menu. Oh well, the menus still look nice - thanks for posting, Luke! I look forward to the reviews. :)

How would I go about emailing BVHE? Is it a different email then the Info@Disney one?

I'm defintily getting DuckTales the week of release. It's my favorite of the two and I only have enough extra money for one of them. I'll get Rescue Rangers later on in the month or early December. Before the year's out for sure though!

If there really is such a law for DVDs then no one must care about it, because in my experience online stores tend to ship out stuff as soon as they get it (maybe not if the distributor specifically requests it or threatens with legal action beforehand, but...). I've had DVDs arrive before release date a couple of times, and that's including a week of shipping over the Atlantic.
Indeed, Amazon have just let me know that they've shipped off for me. I probably won't get them until well after the release date given the current shipping times.

It was odd, because I actually had them bundled to ship with Seinfeld and King Kong in late November. Oh well, I guess Amazon decided they didn't want me putting all my eggs in one basket (or they were in different warehouses).

As for the menus, they look pretty neat. I'm now glad I actually ordered the damn things. I was in two minds about them, but I did remember enjoying them as a lad. All I need now is Tail Spin to make my afternoons home from school complete (and thus avoid any responsibilities associated with adulthood).

There are Sneak Peeks, but they're not linked from the menu oddly enough. Nothing new anyway.

Loomis, you did well.

In my experience from ordering stuff online, I have often gotten items before their streetdate. Most recent example being Episode III on DVD, I had that through my door last Friday (release date Monday just gone).

As for these two sets, I'm sure we can watch and enjoy them in their own right. And if the pilots are STILL not present when set 2 comes about, THEN we can start complaining to Disney ;)

Has anyone noticed on one of the screens its says 'Register your DVD'

This will mean that you can pop it into your DVD-ROM and get access to special online content - hopefully

It doesn't. The same option appears on every Disney/Buena Vista DVD and simply gives you the chance to tell them your buying habits and be covered in case the disc goes bad or you need a replacement cover or something. I've never understood why anyone would really take the time to do it, whether they buy a lot of Disney DVDs or not.

The Region 2 version is the digitally enhanced version. So I persoanlly would wait for the full Region 1 stores release. Although I would be tempted to join and get the DVD if I hadn't seen the film so a long while

here are my thoughts

I think Disney is going to release the pilots as separate discs...that way they can make newer uninformed customers think it is a "long lost movie"...I actually don't mind this as DuckTales and Rescue Rangers pilots aired as TV Specials well in advance of the actual series premiere...I still remember when TaleSpin was a TV Special before the series started...in fact I have the pilot episodes of DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck (one-hour minus commercials), Goof Troop (one hour), Bonkers (one hour, although there were earlier Raw Toonage episodes with him before he was a cop), and others...(as well as the "origin" episodes of the Little Mermaid cartoon ("Urchin", his first appearance), Marsupilami, Sebastian, Shnookums & Meat Funny Cartoon Show (entire series), Timon & Pumbaa, etc...on VHS)

releasing these as movies would be a better bet as they could be viewed in their entirey without the "last time on Ducktales" disclaimers...also these TV specials were the predecessor of the Direct to Video "chepquels" (for better or worse)...the best example of this being the "Return of Jafar" and the "Aladdin and the King Of Thieves" movie that bookended the animated series (season 1 and 2 on Disney Afternoon, and season 3 on saturday morning)...

hopefully this will help lead to the release of "DuckTales: The Movie" on DVD...its a shame though that a series based largely on Carl Barks' classic characters (Scrooge, Flintheart, Gladstone, Gyro, Magica, Beagle Boys) and his stories from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, that we don't get a bonus feature...ah well good thing we're all getting Chronological Donald Vol 2, right??? there's a Barks feature there...
