Do you let people borrow your DVDs?

Any topic that doesn't fit elsewhere.

Very rarely.

(Not many people around here could play that many of my DVDs, most of which are "out-of-region", anyway.)

I might sometimes, though, but only to people I know will respect the importance of handling DVDs (or CDs or books or whatever) well.

There is really one simple principle that can be enforced: If the disc needs replacing after you borrowed it, understand that you're the one to pay, not I.

So, yes, something CAN be done. Just make sure that's understood in advance.

Someone inquired about a program to keep track of your loaned DVD's and I would like to suggest DVDSpot.Com...............they have a marvelous site, and they also have a "Loaned" program that is FREE!!. If you want to see what it looks like, just click on "My DVD Collection" at the bottom of my post and you will see what DVD Spot is all about. I find it much better than Guzzlefish or Affeciando in many ways. The first reason is no 'ad bars' top or bottom, and you can list your owned DVD's, loaned DVD's, your Wishlist, and so much more. It is a marvelous program and is totally FREE!!

Now to the subject at hand - Do I let people borrow my DVD's. Generally NO!! But there are some people, mainly my daughter and son-in-law who are very careful with other people's property, including my DVD's, so until I have a problem, they can borrow what they want within reason. Yes, there are some DVD's that will never be loaned out to anyone. My experiences with loaning to 'friends' who promise to take care of them, has been very bad.

As a rule, I don't loan anything I own. But as in every rule there are exceptions.
