Do you let people borrow your DVDs?

Yes, because we're nice like that.. But we only let family borrow it because they live close to us; so far there haven't been any scratches.
Although, certain Disney OOP titles are a "heck no".

*when they borrow certain DVDs, I keep the slipcover at home.

I let my little brother (age 24) borrow Disneyland USA and Pirates of the Caribbean. I kept the slip cover on my shelf (don't have the tin for Disneyland USA). When he finally brought them back after about 2 weeks and a few phone calls, the cases were call greasy. I guess I should have seen that coming since he works at the Pizza Factory!!

Never again. I'm just glad I didn't let him take the slipcover. I'm sure it would have came back mangled. It's funny how my 3-year-old daughter knows how to take better care of our DVDs than he does.

I only let people I trust borrow them. I keep track of who has what in my DVD program. It keeps my inventory of what DVD’s I have and who has what DVD and how long they have had it for. It also keeps records of who had it in the past so if I am missing a disc I can go look who borrowed it last. I use DVD Profiler does anybody else use this software? I love it because its installed on my computer unlike DVD aficionado which is web based.

i've always been anal about my DVDs, CDs and books.

Last month i let my aunt and uncle borrow my Bambi DVD so my 3 year old cousin could watch it. I guess i was feeling really generous that day cause i just handed it over with it's slipcover and all. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized what i'd done and started freaking out....i fretted on and off for a week when i got it back. The slipcover was all sticky and it looked like someone had used it as a clipboard cause there was writing indentation on it and the DISC was covered with fingerprints and sticky jam. I was sooooooooooo upset and vowed never to let ANYONE borrow ANYTHING AGAIN! I didn't say anything either because that's just how i am...i let everyone walk all over me

How much did you pay for this program? Sounds nice, I might have to check into getting it if it has a reasonable price tag.

it's free if you dont mind the ad bar (it's not big and it mainly just reminds you of what you get if you buy the premium edition) and low quality cover scans if you want to get rid of the ad bar at the top and get hi resolution cover scans then its a one time fee of 29.95. The web site is:

I like the software its got a lot of tools and I like the fact that you can enter the dvds by upc number, title or just put the disc in and it identifies it.

Nobody really asks to borrow my dvds, if they did then im not sure what id say. If i trust them and they know how i feel about my collection then i'll let them.

Your lucky! Several people ask me even though they know how I feel about my dvds. Somebody even asked me right after I had told them I don't let people borrow my dvds. I just have to be mean and say no. The people who ask can just as easily go to the store and buy the movie if they want to watch it.

Yes, I let people borrow my DVDs (I said rarely, but I was lying) whenever they ask. But there are a few I will NEVER let anyone borrow. My Halloween: THX Special edition goes NOWHERE because when the company released it in the 2-disc Divimax edition, they totally F-ed up the transfer and all the moody blue light is now gray, so I have to hold on to my current soon-to-be out-of-print someday DVD for DEAR LIFE!!!

I let these people borrow most of my DVDs and I worry about them every second they're gone. Only I know how much time and effort I put into this collection.

I don't know how I missed this the first time!

Well I don't let people "borrow" my DVDs, however, my Mom has an unofficial job as a babysitter for my neighbors, and she sometimes borrows(without my permission of corse) my Monster's Inc. DVD and some of my videos. Aside from that my DVDs don't get borrowed. And I'm glad about it!

Ok, let me see.

I just have basically 2 friends who I loaned them my movies.

Knowing of course that they'll pay for the movie if something happens.

But I DON'T LIKE TO:

One of my friends take forever to bring the movie back. I hate that!!! More so when you go there to check if they saw them, and they haven't. Sometimes they're even in the same place.

And there's this guy, that I just remembered has kept my Bedazzled movie for a couple of years now. And he lives in my same city!

Once I let a professor have one of my movies and he just moved out and kept it.

But still, I don't learn. I guess I will.

But of course there are certain movies I'll never let anyone: TV series, special editions (like the EE of LOTR) and OOP DVDs.

Never would because I know how some of my friends treat their cds (scratches and smudges) so they don't get their paws on my dvds since I don't want them to get the torture treatment.

I lend out only ones that I could always replace. I'm not lending out any Disney Special or Platinum editions that if something happens to them I'm screwed sicne there's no cheap way to get another copy. Other than that since I haven't had any bad experiences I'll lend them out.

I have in the past, but not anymore. The main reason is I never got the DVD back, and if I did they were either scratched or the case was messed up somehow.

We let certain people borrow our dvds. My best friend and I are always loaning each other movies. I have a friend at work and we do the same thing. The only family we let borrow are my in laws. We have had one bad experience with a friend from work and he is no longer allowed to touch our dvds. He borrowed the 1st season of Buffy and 2 of the discs came back scratched and had something sticky on them. He claims they were that way when he borrowed it but we knew better. Other than that we've had no problems.

why do they want to borrow them in the 1st place if they are not willing to buy it themselves, could it be 'cos they know how it will get treated. if they are borrowing, what are they lending you? usually the ones who dont bring out their toys are the ones who lose or break yours. this carries on into adult hood. you bought it with your money not to save them some cash but for your pleasure. if they are the sort to disrespect your property & its to awkward for you to refuse, ask for a deposit that covers a replacement. that will make them be more careful or better yet not borrow in the 1st place. course if they can be trusted this wont be neccessary as any damage would be owned up to & payed for.....yeah right.
