I Have Disney TV Movies on DVD-R
If I'm a fan of classic Disney TV movies, I remember back a few years ago, the old Disney Channel used to have an overnight block called "Vault Disney" where they usually showed old Disney movies and shows. In addition to that, I have several of Disney made-for-TV movie that is was originally part of "Walt Disney Presents", the show featured specials and TV movies from WWOC, WWOD and other source. I used to tape a lot on TV and I have lots of copies on VHS so that I converted it onto a DVD-R. Back in the 60's and 70's, Disney's "Wonderful World of Color" and the "Wonderful World of Disney" aired TV movies in 2-parts, because it was an hour-long show. When I was copying right to a DVD from a VCR, I put this 2-part movie into one full TV movie when it was like 90 or 95 minutes. That why I convert those 2-part movies into one TV movie. I have a lists of TV movies that I copied off of Disney Channel from a couple of years ago. The quality of those TV movies from the WWOC and WWOD days looked horrible and the sound quality was bad. I remember a long time ago, I used to have a Sanyo 4-head VCR and it sounded a lot garbled if you watch those Disney TV movies. I have following films:
1. "Mystery in Dracula's Castle"
2. "The Treasure of San Bosco Reef"
3. "The Magnificent Rebel"
4. "Sammy the Way-Out Seal"
5. "Flight of the Grey Wolf"
6. "The Whiz Kid and the Mystery at Riverton"
7. "The Whiz Kid and the Carnival Caper"
8. "The Mystery of Edward Sims" (bad quality)
9. "My Dog, the Thief"
10. "Justin Morgan Had a Horse"
11. "Barry of Great St. Bernard"
12. "Moochie of the Little League"
13. "Moochie of Pop Warner Football"
14. "Snow Bear"
15. "Hog Wild"
16. "Return of the Big Cat"
17. "The Horsemasters"
18. "Smoke"
19. "Ballerina"
20. "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh"
21. "Atta Girl, Kelly"
22. "The Boy Who Stole the Elephant"
23. "The Wacky Zoo of Morgan City"
24. "Menace On the Mountain"
25. "The Ghost of Buxley Hall"
26. "Bristle Face"
27. "For the Love of Willadean"
28. "Boomerang, Dog of Many Talents"
Those were 2-part TV movies I have since I used to taped it off of Disney Channel many years ago. Any questions?

When you recorded these movies off of TV with your VHS recorder did you record them at Standard Play (SP-2 hour) speed or did you use Standard Long Play (SLP-6 hour) speed? Some people don't understand about the difference in the speed of the tape and the quality is so much better at the SP speed than at SLP, but it also uses all the tape on the T-120.
I have recorded over 1,000 DVD+R and DVD+RW's from VHS, but I was smart and recorded everything at 2-hour (SP) speed so my DVD's look pretty good considering. When you say you had sound problems, it is probably indicative that you recorded them at SLP (6-hour) speed.
You have a great collection, but why not record them to RW's so you can free up some discs when those movies come to DVD, if and whenever they do?

All of my VHS tapes I have copied off of the old Disney Channel when Vault Disney was there is on EP (SLP) mode. The sound quality was bad. In that case, my T-120 tapes holds up to 6 hours in SLP mode, 2 hours on SP where the sound comes clear. I know the speed on my VCR depends on what speed that I was using during my recording of my favorite 2-part Disney TV movie from WWOC and WWOD.dvdjunkie wrote:When you recorded these movies off of TV with your VHS recorder did you record them at Standard Play (SP-2 hour) speed or did you use Standard Long Play (SLP-6 hour) speed? Still didn't answer the question about why DVD-R instead of DVD-RW? I have noticed a real lack of quality when you dupe from SLP to DVD, and thus, I haven't recorded any of those type of tapes to DVD. If they are in black and white, then you won't notice the quality difference, but if they are in color, then the picture quality is really grainy and almost unwatchable.
A very wise choice would be to record to DVD-RW or DVE+RW, I just don't understand your choices there.

This summer on Toon Disney
I did the same thing, but I did it this summer with Toon Disney...I got everything I wanted (except the things you know Disney will not release on tv), from Pocahontas, Hunchback, Goofy Movie, Sword in the Stone, Tarzan...as well as some great non-Disney animated flicks I loved, American Tail, Secret of Nimh, etc...the Disney Channel itself does not run much in terms of actual movies, though.

Some of those titles have been released by Disney on DVD, and save for Dr. Syn, are still easy to pick up. You have a good collection, I'd hold on to it as I have a feeling some of those titles won't be coming to DVD.

Re: I Have Disney TV Movies on DVD-R
Why not? If he has the films on VHS and the means to convert them to DVD, he's very lucky. Most people may never have the opportunity to see the films in his collection. I still have a working setup to do just that. I've converted most of my movies that are not available elsewhere to DVD-R already, but there are a few I still haven't gotten to yet.Kyle wrote:VHS in 2014? Seriously?
