Magnificent news! I <3 The Wizard of Oz and cannot wait to get my hands on the 3-Disc Set! i think the cover is beautiful and classy, although, I must say I prefer the ruby slippers over Elphab..I mean, The Wicked Witch of the West's
crystal ball (..and hand). Sadly, I doubt I'll have it until Christmas because of all the moola I spent on my Cinderella: Collector's DVD Gift Set.

$12.99 2-Disc for RZ members, but no deal for RZ members on the 3-disc?
For a company that has gone from being the best DVD retailer to one of the worst, with RZ deals being the only thing making them worth a visit anymore, they aren't offering much incentive. $20 is a lot to pay for the extra disc and materials, but I'll still do it.

Oh, a review must be done for the 3 disc set versus 2 disc. Aside from seeing the obvious, I'd like to know if the extra $20 is worth it. Then again, I'm talking nonsense because it probably is, but I need assurance.
But thank goodness this comes out on October 25!

Well, a review at the Home Theater Forum for the 3 Disc Collector's Edition of The Wizard of Oz is now up and it looks as though it's worth getting. Krystal, I think that the 3 Disc Set would be worth getting. If you payed $20 more than a regular Disney DVD for a Disney gift set with Cinderella and Aladdin, buying this Collector's Edition, which has not just collectables but an extra disc full of vintage films, would seem an even better choice.

You do get alot for the extra 20 bucks, but the reality is that disc 1 and 2 are the same in both versions. So if you really only want the movie with the new great transfer than just buy the 2 disc version. You still get some nice extras.

Okay, so I was looking at the two and three disc dvds today and the math just did not make sense.
$27 for 2 disks, or $45 for 3. The third disc was mostly histoically interesting stuff but not of great value and who cares about all the packaging gimmicks for the three disc version.
So two questions.
1) I own the prior version - is the new version significantly better for transfer and sound
2) What did you think of the third disk?

This is exactly what I am going through. My Mom was quite stirred when she saw that the 3-Disc was $39.99 at Target (where she always shops,) and that the 2-Disc was only $16.99. When I actually looked at the third disc, it has nothing to do with the film, or, of actual importance.Mr. Toad wrote:Okay, so I was looking at the two and three disc dvds today and the math just did not make sense.

However, me and my "Must be perfect" nature, I really want the 3-Disc when I look at the back cover saying "The Definitive". You see, in my eyes the word "definitive" means must buy, especially on The Wizard of Oz.
Well, now, I'm just rambling..anyways: can someone here give a little review of the third disc, as Mr. Toad asked? Thanks!

I was debating about whether to ask for the 2-disc or the 3-disc (then again, I don't know why).
But then I realize you get more out of the 3-disc (and it's $33.99 @ BB I believe..this week only) not just with what's on the discs but what's in the packaging.
Here's a <a href="http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/dvd.php?id ... >review</a> on the WoZ 3-disc which (personally) makes me anticipate receiving
(and owning) the 3-disc over the 2-disc.

Well, that pretty much sums it up for me! Since The Wizard of Oz is easily my favorite Live-Action movie of all time, I suppose the 3-Disc is, naturally, the way to go. I just need some re-assurance once and a whileRopeofSilicon.com Review wrote:The only decision you have to make is whether you want the 2-disc version or the 3-disc. The decision should be pretty easy to make however. You choose the 2-disc if special features and cool little memorabilia stuff isn't important to you. Basically, if you like watching the movies and you may catch some deleted scenes now and again go for the 2-disc.
For the rest of you, the 3-disc is your way to go. The difference between the two are the two folders I described above and the third disc. Either way, you are going to be happy. I don't think there was anything left on the Warner lot to fit into this collection.
