Films you bought as "blind-buys"

Post by Timon/Pumbaa fan »

Since there has been a thread about whether a certain UD member should buy "Batman Begins" as a blind-buy, I was wondering, have there been films you have bought as blind-buys.

To be honest, I have yet to buy a movie as a blind-buy. If I really want to see a movie that I haven't seen in theaters, I can rent it, and if I REALLY love it, in the end, I'll buy it.

And pretty much all the other movies I have on DVD I've seen at the theaters, or saw it before some other way.

Chicago-Blind buy, heard great stuff about it. It was vastly disappointing, and I'm now trying to sell on amazon marketplace.

you mean like buying a movie you didn't see in theatres?

I bought Santa Clause2 instead of renting it.

Ice Princess

Tuck Everlasting

All bought and never saw in theatre.

Is this what you meant? :?
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Lion King 1 1/2 is the only one I can think of that I have.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

Yes I have. I'm a romance nut so if it's that type of movie I usually buy it. I did that with Sweet Home Alabama and Fever Pitch and I love them both. I also did it with Jersey Girl and Two Weeks Notice and I didn't care for either one. I just have a bad habit of buying before viewing. My husband is forever getting onto me for it.

Men in Black II was the blind buy that made me realize that it is always worth renting before you buy because this movie wasn't very good at all.

Actually, my one and only blind buy was The Perfect Storm, and thankfully, I liked it, but I never blind buy anymore...rent first, then I won't get stuck with it if I don't like it. :)

Got two movies today on a 'Blind Buy'.......I picked up Unleashed the Unrated Director's Cut with Jet Li, Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman. The other movie was "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants".......I thought I would surprise my wife with it and she was very surprised. I didin't tell her I bought it at Best Buy because I got 15,000 bonus points as a Reward Zone member for getting it.

As far as Blind Buys go, I probably am guilty more of blind buys than I would like to admit to. Have only been burned once or twice in all these years. I will continue to blind buy in the future. Generally I am pretty cautious and it has to be a movie that I have heard lots of people talk about and that I didn't get a chance to see in the theater. Then I take the chance.

Oh my goodness, somewhere around half my dvd collection is blind buys. I have gotten a lot used for buy 2 get 2 and most of those were blind buys. Also a lot of vhs that I got on the cheap have been blind buys.

I tend to have a pretty good idea of what I am going to like so I don't have much of a problem with blind buying. Cds and books are the same, rarely have I gotten something that I didn't like. Some stuff I wouldn't revisit for a while, but I have been pretty lucky in the blind buy department. Actually, Once A Upon A Time In The West was a blind buy and is now in my top 3 movies. So yeah, I blind buy alot, but I won't give a list because it is pretty long.

I have about 50 blind buys, most of them I got on the days of release, some I still have not watched like:
Master and Commander The far side of the world- And I have had this for 1 and 1/2 years
Others that I have bought and Watched and enjoyed:
Scary Movie 3
The Village

I think don't think that I have had a movie that I have not been happy with. I have been lucky

I'm guilty of blind buys. Yea...
MOST of what we own, we've seen. Half of half of our collection are blind buys (I think that makes sense) or in numerics 524/2 = 262/2 = 131 DVDs are blind buys, around so.

What can I say? I like movies--especially romantic comedies! :D Half of our romantic comedies are blind buys. Some I could live without.

Oh yea. Sometimes we rent. Just sometimes. :D

I've had quite a few blind buys, but the only one that really sticks out in my mind is Memento because I ended up loving it so much.

Since I work at a video store now, I don't really do blind buys... Well, granted I did get Memento as a blind buy from the store I work at cause it was cheap and I was pressed for time on what to get. d:
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.
