Lion King Collector's Gift Set questions...

Post by littlefuzzy »

I recently found this at a pawn shop for $25, although I haven't bought it yet. How likely is it that I could find a new copy for about the same or cheaper?

Have there been any bootlegs of this set? If you order from an Amazon Marketplace seller, will you just get an "import" copy, without the book and sketches? BTW, for those who don't know, almost any time an Amazon (or E-Bay) seller states that it is an import, that means a complete and total bootleg. 8)

What are the exact contents of the box, including the inserts for the disc itself? On the pawn shop copy, the cardboard band is missing (the only bad part,) there is a 2-disc set w/ slipcover and insert, a hardback book, and a cardboard box with 9 sketches and a certificate, all in matted sleeves.

If I get this one, is it possible that Disney could send me a replacement band for the box? What is the contact number for them?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

When I was searching for the Lion King Gift Set a few months ago the lowest price I could find new was $40-$44 at Circuitcity.com. I think it had free shipping.
It sounds like everything that should be there is in there, except of course the band. I have no idea if Disney could send you a new one. I think the customer service number is 1-800-782-5425. But I'm not sure, that could just be a random number I have laying around. The customer service thread has the number in it.
Anyhoo, for $25 I would say it is worth picking up.

One thing that bothers me is the lack of a film cell. Without the band, I don't know for sure, but Aladdin and Cinderella both had film cells.

If Disney just skipped the film cell for TLK for some odd reason, then I will probably get the box, and try to get a band from Disney.

This set did not have a film cell. It came with the book and 9 sketches.

In the last yea rI've only seen one copy in stores in Canada for nearly $70. I wanted it but I put it off and it stayed there for maybe 6 months and then someone bought it. I now regret missing out since I own the Aladdin set and I plan on buying the Cinderella set this Friday.

Hi Guys,
Not sure what people are paying so much. Like I said on half.com
they have a new one now for $29 plus $2.49 to ship.. You might
want to shop around before paying $50 (way to much)

Well, I bought the pawn shop copy for 24.99, and a Disney CSR said that she would send me the "belly band" that goes around the outside of the box.

On a related note, I requested that Disney include belly bands for the next wave of WD Treasures, since that is the only way to differentiate between the spines of the tins...

I'm not sure if some people are confused and think the topic was about TLK Trilogy Box Set instead of just the TLK collector set.

I got my TLK new for about $25; i think the retail is about $40 - $45.

The Trilogy box set is more expensive and maybe what some people are talking about when they quote prices of $50 - $70

Anyway, I know there for a while people were having a hard time selling TLK collector set for more then $20 on Ebay, but that was about 6 months ago.
