Tangled! (The Artist Formerly Known As Rapunzel)

Post by PatrickvD »

Directors: Nathan Greno, Byron Howard

Writers: Mark Kennedy (head writer)
Dean Wellins (screenplay)

After a retooling, the film will be based again on the literary origins of the famous fairy tale, in the veins of Classics like "Snow White" and "Cinderella": described as a traditional, character-driven fairy tale it will speak to a modern audience, with a different new style of its own

she is lovely :o
also reminds me a lot of Jane from Tarzen,
is this the final look that will really show in the movie ?
i still so hope they can make a "real" fairy tale again instead of a "twisted one" though....

it's excited to see how she looks like so early! *set as desktop*
thanks for posting!

You guys actually like this look? Gigantic eyes, a thin mouth, and that goofy smile? Sorry, but I expect something a bit more from my Disney heroines. This girl reminds me of Sara Gilbert from "Roseanne!"

talking abut how the japanese toons have influenced the american ones... :P

don`t know, it may be a pretty movie, but as I said before with "Bambi II", who cares if it looks good if the story isn´t?
I think that we should look at least a teaser to judge this upcoming movie

You've just described Ariel, Belle and Jasmin lol seriously, this design has all the Glen Keane trademarks.

Wow, if the character is as well realized on motion as it is on this still picture, we may really have something here!
The design really follows Keane´s style... Big eyes and lots of hair. I have faith he will give us the best Disney animated feature of the later years.

Talk about rude. He meant motion, dvdjunkie, you didn't have to jump at him for one spelling mistake.

Anyways, she looks okay, but her waist is dangerously skinny. Rapunzel wasn't bulimic, was she? Her face is a standard Disney heroine face, but that waist really needs to be expanded.

The smirk looks perfect, like she's the no-nonsense princess.

I like the green eyes! That's a first for a Disney Princess (and merchandise would do well to learn that...)

The design is very cute, IMO. The pose reminds me of Megara, which could be fun.

I am not going to get too hung up on anything Rapunzel related just yet, though. It's far too soon.[/i]

She looks really godo

She looks rather elfin. I like the willy-nilly expressionism, because I think it will capture the comedic side of the movie very well. Even though they have said it will no longer be a satiric comedy in the vain of Shrek, I still think it will be more along those lines that a full-blown love drama. In my opinion, that's good. I really don't want another Snow White/Aurora on our hands, because those two are enough to put the feminist movement back two centuries. At least Cinderella had a personlity. Since Rapunzel is definately a "classic" fairy tale, I hope it will return to the magic feel of those early films, while updating the perception of the typical Disney heroine.

She's pretty and all but she looks like she's about 11 or 12 :o . Even Snow White was older than that!

I hope that this film be in 2D,making such images on 3D it would be very hard, and also making an OK princess.

I have nothing against Dremworks and Fiona`s first look, but...I don`t imagine a Disney princess like it...or as Barbi`s Rapunzel

I really dislike the fact that Disney ended the 2D animation. And wasn't looking forward to it but after watching this GORGEOUS image.

...but; people be prepared since I'm feeling the world is going to bombarded by all sides by publicity and promotions in a much larger amount that the whole princesses line.... AND THAT'S GOING TO BE SOMETHING!

Wow! This character looks charming and original. So far Disney is doing an alright job with the CG animation. :)
