If you enjoyed watching the Platinum Edition of "Cinderella" on DVD, you're going to listen to the story of "Cinderella". This was taken from a record and it told by a Disneyland storyteller, Ginny Tyler. I don't even see a narrator billing on that label. This was from a Disneyland album called "Walt Disney's Story of 'Cinderella'" and it released back in the early 60's. As you might see in that picture. The album was enclosed with a full color 11-page booklet with load of pictures from the film and even illustration. This is very rare and it's also a collector's item. Enjoy!
Beautiful and curious! And you know why the story teller says she's a CRICKET? Beacuse the first version of the recording was made by Cliff Edwards in the role of JIMINY CRICKET! I have this version of the LP (the cover is the same) the one you posted must be a later reissue. They didn't even adapt the narration for the new reader, left it as it was done by Edwards! Which year is your record, mine is from early '60's.
Wow! Listening to that reminded me why I love Cinderella so much! One of the reasons is the music is so beautiful! It was cool hearing the entire recording of Illene Woods singing "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" without hearing the mice and sound effects. The whole piece is so beautiful! And "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" was nice, with the Fairy Gdomother singing indiscernably through the last part (it was funny!). The whole thing was quite an enjoyable listen! Thank You!
I didn't like it when the narrator tried to sound like the fairy godmother when she said the fairy godmother's lines, but that was about my only complaint. What a pleasant surprise it was to listen to the story and the music like this!

Thanks Disney Duster for this incredible story. I know that the story of "Cinderella" was taken from a record. I don't really think it's not on CD after all. Ted Kryczko and Randy Thornton, one of the guys that made the Disney compilation CD's had never put their story on CD when it was remastered from the original Disneyland vinyl. When the CD of "Cinderella" was released in 1996, Producers Randy Thornton and Ted Kryczko did a magnificent job putting the piece together for the entire soundtrack since it was remastered from the original Disneyland LP material. If you listen to the middle of the album, listen to "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and you can hear a record scratch in the background. In that case, the record did have a few scratches but it's very good. Randy and Ted are great successful team by putting Disney compilations into a number of CD's. It's great to hear that story. I have lots of Disney records in my collection. This was from a Disneyland label back in the early 60's before it became Walt Disney Records. The original Disneyland label had a lot of history there. Disneyland was the label when it first started in 1956 by Walt Disney himself. I hope that next year will be the 50th anniversary of Disney's first successful record label. Will see what happens.
Yes, I heard a few scratches on in the recording but it was still pretty clear. You know, I heard and read somewhere the songs from Cinderella were the first to be released by the Walt Disney Music Company. And also, hiring the Tin Pan Alley to do the songs was the first time Walt Disney hired people outside of the studio to do the music for a picture. So Cinderella's music has some special history. My favorite song is probably "Sing Sweet Nightingale", and when I watched that scene in the restoration I was amazed at how beautiful it looked!
Walt Disney also called his television show Disneyland at one point, and later changed the title around a lot, too. It would be cool if Disney's records in general had a 50th anniversary, because you are so interested in them. Maybe there would be special musical parades or something to celebrate. Maybe in the parades they could be on floats and wear costumes making them look just like the albums' artwork, and they would dance to to scenes specifically dealing with music, like the mice making a dress singing "The Work Song", or water pouring down on a forest float for "Little April Shower". That would be cool!

Yes! If you look through one of the Disney record albums, you can see what's on the bottom of the label. It says "Recorded by Walt Disney Music Co." That tagline lasted from 1956 until either 1970 or 1971 where the tagline was dropped in later releases as well as susequent reissues. As you may know Disneyland was the only label that had a music publishing tagline that was on the bottom, same as "Cinderella", the first movie ever had a music publishing company.

I have lots of Disney LP's in my personal collection. Don't worry, if it's okay that next year will be the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney Records when it was originally called Disneyland records. Will have to wait and see.
Thanks so much, Musicradio! It's very enjoyable. I love those story albums. Do you have the Mary Poppins Story record? It's the one told by "Bert" and sung by Marni Nixon and all. It's so much fun. I used to have it and would love to hear it again.
Thanks for sharing!! ( love the cover art you included )

This is a Yousendit site that you can upload a file that you don't have. Your download file transfer is for a limited of 7 days and 25 downloads. I know your file has been expired. Some members already listened to that entire album.
