In my case... I'll stay with the Special Edition.
I think is a joke that an already restored and 2 disc DVD turns into a PE.
I'd believe that only purists, the ones that never got a chance to own it before and PE collectors are the ones to get it.
I really want to know what are the expectatives of Disney sales on this DVD.
PS
Besides, SB is not one of my favorites and I find it very boring at most parts.

I loved the 1997 cover art to death. I didn't really expect them to, but it was a shame they didn't just use it for the DVD.
As for the matter at hand in this thread -- as has been discussed numerous times before I might add -- I think the SE is fine. Since the addition of it to the Platinum line was confirmed before the cover art change, I don't know why they just didn't add the Platinum banner to the first release and call it a day.
I can't say if I will upgrade or not because we don't know when the new one will be released and what will be on it. Especially considering how damn long it took for the standard DVD to get here, I highly doubt that we will see any reissue of Sleeping Beauty at all until Blu-ray becomes the accepted normal standard, which could and probably will take years. If the movie is presented in high-definition and there is a big leap of quality between what I have and what they're offering on the new version, then yes, I would gladly buy a third version for the best picture and sound quality available. But we'll see what happens.

I was about to say that probably because of the horrible art cover, and the lack of promotion the movie wouldn't have sold as well as Disney wanted but I was quite shocked to see in dvdaf that looking at who owned the movie... I got a total of 3, 483 matches!!!!
And of course, most of these people are just regular buyers and I doubt they'll be willing to buy it again.
So I'm really looking forward t how Disney is going to handle the promotion for this PE.
I mean, they already are promoting Lady and the Tramp as "Available for the first time ever!!!.... (on a 2 Disc PE)

Yep, its all abut the dubbing, and thanks for the idea, but find a Laser Disc here in México is like finding Shrek on Disneyland...deathie mouse wrote:Well then he should buy the LD that has it, and have himself a super Deluxe Multiformat/Aluminium Discs Edition(dethicorpsTM has done this for The Lion King)

It was actually one of my favorite DVD covers? *shrugs*TheLittleMerman wrote:I'll get it. My SE's condition is slowing down, so in a few years, I would upgrade anyways. Hopefully they'll have a better cover. IMO the Special Edition's looks hideous!
As for the DVD, I didn't have a chance to pick up the Special Edition. Even thought I think Maleficent is an overrated villain, the movie is still very good that I'd want to buying.
Maybe the DVD can be like the Toy Story 10th Anniversary where they replace a documentary with a new one.
Oh well let's hope Disney has something special prepared for this movie. What ever happens, I don't want to have another Tarzan incident .
