I'm curently reading Eldest and Something Wicked This Way Comes. I really am enjoying both. I really need to re-read Half-Blood Prince, which is the best series of books ever!

I've been feeling nostalgic recently and started reading these books from my school days:

Sideways Stories from Wayside School (and the sequels)
The Giver
Flowers for Algernon

I think this weekend I'll read There's A Boy in the Girl's Bathroom again. And maybe The Westing Game.

Hey! I remember that book! My teacher read it out loud to the classroom when I was in 4th grade. Ah, good memories.

I'm reading Harry Potter and the half blood prince at the moment. Great book so far however I would enjoy it more if I didn't know what was going on later thanks to some stupid kids at camp yelling out what happens at the end. Idiots

NEED HELP FROM YOU READERS!!!

You see, I got this book as a gift from a very special friend in Spain.
The book is about his hometown (where I spent basically a month living, and I love it).... but I haven't been able to read it.

Reasons:

1. I get distracted easily. It takes me quite a while to read something for my own.

2. This is the most important reason so far. I can't get interest in the book because it talks about the history, locations, places and people that I know nothing about. So I can't visualize anyhting.

... still, I want to read it because it was a gift from him (and he was quite excited when he gave it to me) AND I'm going back to Spain soon and I want to let him know I read the book.

Please, suggestions.

Well, I really don't understand reason #2. That's why I'm a reader, to learn about new things. The majority of books I read, I have no clue of the conetents of the book. For instance, the book I'm reading now is a novel about women in Bible times. I'm not a woman, I have never been to the Middle East or North Africa, and I'm certainly not acquainted with pagan rituals or ancient women's hygeine, all contents of this book. Still, using your imagination, you can visualize everything.

For reason #2, Just force yourself to sit down. I do this all the time when reading literature for school. Force yourself and give yourself about three hours and just do nothing but read. You will hate this the first couple of times, but then you'll learn to really love reading, and though you may never read for three hours at a time again, at least you'll be able to read enjoyably for a shorter period of time.

Go on amazon and a read a review and summary of it, and so when you are in spain, you can tell him you liked it and tell him about the summary. thats for cheaters

In anticipation of the upcoming feature, Bride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, a great novel that has spawned many good adaptations, including this year's Pride and Prejudice, a very good film that didn't deserve UD's middling review.

Yes, thanks for the correction. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels, so that's an embarassing slip-up. A two letter difference, so I guess it's an honest mistake.

Perhaps my favorite gifts this year for my birthday were The Complete Calvin & Hobbes and The Complete Far Side, which are collections of every Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side cartoons ever made. I can't stop staring at them, they just look so cool.

I just put down the very funny If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of A B-Movie Actor by Evil Dead/Xena/Spider-man 2 actor Bruce Campbell. Great look at the 'other' side of Hollywood.

Now I am reading the highly compelling Disney War by James B. Stewart. It's a 'behind the scenes' look at the Eisner years. Regardless of how you feel about Eisner, you will look at him in a different light after reading this (I didn't say which light though).

I'm reading Louisa May Alcott's classic sequel Little Men. I read Little Women, my absolute favourite book of all time, over five years ago, and have always wanted to read Little Men but could never find it in stores. So I have finally decided to read a free ebook version online, which is kind of like stealing, but is too tempting too resist. I'm on Chapter 7, and it is quite charming and enjoyable so far, though it's no Little Women.

Oh, I just love Calvin and Hobbes! I've wanted that book, but the price is too large for me to purchase it for a long, long, long time.

I checked out "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest" from a library the other day.
