Chicken Little Discussion

Well, I'd figure I'd start up a thread on Disney's first CG feature, due out Nov. 4th, 2005.

I think the film looks pretty cool, a refershing type of CG-I than other stuff offered. The visuals really seem to pull the story together.

And this just occured to me, does ANYONE have news on the soundtrack (since at present time of typing this I haven't found anything)? I'm curious who will contribute songs. I know John Debney's doing the score, but is there any artist's contributing?

And I'm very curious to see what kind of character Morkubine Porcupine will be. Perhaps just an enigma of sorts? Or is he help out unexpectdly. Cool little character. 8)

I will see it, if not, for sure get it on DVD in the future.

Yeah I think I am gonna like this one. I mean anything can beat Home on the Range (too bad for that film. I think it COULD have been great) Anyway soundtrack news...I know Barenaked Ladies has a song for the movie called "One Little Slip" You can hear part of it in the trailer from Japan.

I am so excited because I LOVE BARENAKED LADIES! alltime favorite band. I hope there are more songs in the film, but I am guessing there won't be. I can't wait to see this film, especially in 3D.

The start of that trailer, with the accorn looks cool (I've only seen the disney castle startup part of the trailer.

More on topic, it looks like it will be a good (in relation to the animation of the trailers and story that has emerged so far). I hope it will be good too.

I kind of wonder as well, with Zach Braff's voice whether he changed his to sound younger et cetera or if they altered it with sound equipment.

It looks only okay.

Some parts really didn't make me laugh, like that "sorry I'm a nervous eater". I just hope it has more laughs because that trailer looked dumb! :roll:

But overall it looks like I'll see it. Hey it looks better than Finding Nemo! :)

For some reason the animation reminds me of that Jimmy Neutron show--surely it is computer animated, but it doesn't have that realistic look because its meant to be like a cartoon. If CL is going to have any roadblocks to overcome that will be it--because IMO, compared to other CGI features it is not as visually spectacular, and I think that's what many audiences will hope to see. Plotwise, I'm not sure how it will sit. The trailer didn't seem like anything much, but its usually not an accurate rendition of the final product.

My 2 cents for now.

Thanks for the info on one of the songs corrwill. Hopefully the full soundtrack will be revealed soon.

More on the soundtrack...I saw some of the CL books at B&N today and the text next to the soundtrack ad says

"Featuring some of today's most popular music artists singing songs the whole family will enjoy!"

What ever that means :lol:

From what I've seen of this on commercials, ads, The Disney Channel (,etc.), this actually looks very good.

I never pay attention to the trailers except to see when it will come out. As far as Disney goes, I never miss opening day of a Disney animated film and this one will be no different. Although I am disappointed that Disney has chosen to go the CGI route instead of the 2-D animation that they excel at, I will still go in with an open mind and be prepared for what might become a Disney classic.

I must be in a minority here as I thoroughly enjoyed "Home on the Range". I thought the animation was well done, the music was okay, and the humor appealed to both the child in us all and the adults we really are. There were several memorable 'one-liners' in the film.

November 4th can't get here soon enough for me!

The trailer did not impress me at all. The story for once, sounds original, but it looks overly unamusing. But it looks better then Valient.

However, I will be seeing it. Having a 6 year old daughter, I am pretty much required to see it and if I don't take her to it, I'll never live it down. *sighs*

Can't compare CL to "Valiant", because "Valiant" was a British animated film distributed by Disney. The Disney company had nothing to do with the production.

"Chicken Little" will probably do better than we all think because the name Walt Disney draws a crowd.

I don't know why but yesterday I was thinking about Chicken Little and I thought to myself "Isn't this something Warner Bros., Dreamworks, or Paramount would make rather than Disney?"

I don't know about this flim. It doesn't look bad but then again I doubt it that I'll be seeing it in the theaters when it comes out. I'll probably rent it when the DVD comes out.

Howdy!

That's nothing. Ever since I first heard about this movie from the Brother Bear DVD, I thought this was going to be rated PG, mainly because the MPAA are slumps, LOL. But instead, this is going to be rated G! Ahh, like when I was little - the G rating used constantly! :D

You know, my co-worker said the same thing. She said, "If it's Disney, it'll always draw the masses".

And yes, ugh...I'm so tired of articles and stuff reporting Valiant as a Disney movie. It's not. As said, they just distributed it (Lord only knows why).

That Dodgeball clip got me excited a little bit more. This movie seems to have merchandising and character greatness all over it.

I wasn't comparing them as who made them or animation wise, but simply as the story and characters themselves. :roll:

And I don't bankroll on the name Walt Disney bringing them in.

Case in point...

Atlantis
Treasure Planet
Home on the Range

I do expect Chicken Little to do well, but to rely on the Disney name alone these days doesn't do them much good. Heck, people see an animated movie and instantly think Disney and that still doesn't save it. Case in point, Anastasia and Thumbelina. How many people came to me and asked about merchandise for these movies at Disney World and the Disney Store. And yet, they didn't do well in the theaters even when people thought they were Disney.

A point for you to ponder Siren..........where I live "Thumbelina" and "Anastasia" never played in a theater. The first we were exposed to it was when it came on video or when Barry Manilow appeared on television singing his songs from Thumbelina.

The three movies you cited: Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range all had different things going against them. "Atlantis" didn't have any memorable music, and "Treasure Planet" was just a revamping of the "Treasure Island" story and everyone knows how that turned out. Can you say......boring?............."Home on the Range" was a victim of getting lost in the shuffle of a lot of movies on the weekend it debuted. I personally thought "Home on the Range" was uniquely Disney with its animals and storyline, and I found it very entertaining. The songs were probably the worst thing about the movie, but I won't hold them against it.

I just think we should all wait and go see "Chicken Little" and then decide if it was worth the time spent on this thread, criticizing something that we all know nothing about.
