Gold Collections planned to be released as 2-Disc CE's?

Post by KingTritan »

I am in the process of collecting Disney Animated Classics on DVD. I dont want to buy Gold Collection DVD's unless i have to though. Does anyone know if any of the following movies are planned to have CE's in the future?

The Sword in the Stone
The Rescuers
Robin Hood
The Aristocats
Hercules
Hunchback of Notre Dame

I realize these are not planned to be released as Platinums but with the trend of releasing non-PE's with or around the PE releases i was hoping for maybe some better versions of these films.

I am assuming Dumbo is getting such a treatment now that it is going OOP

And I'm thinking 10 year Anniversary for Hercules and Hunchback...

Other than that...Disney has me confused

I would love a 2-Discer, possible 10th Anniversary Edition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame! It is one of the best, IMHO of the 90's Disney flicks. I just hate that dreadful 'A Guy Like You' or whatever it's called. I realize that they had to make the movie somewhat kid friendly. They also know how to ruin a mood.

Sword in the Stone please :) Herc and Hunchback are going for tenth ann. and Dumbo will most likely get a 2-disc special edition anyway due to the movie's popularity. So I say Sword in the Stone.

The bottom three in your list of six seem very likely for the next year or two. The top three may come at some point, but I think they are on the low-priority list for Disney.

Hercules is an underrated gem and the best one listed so I would really want a 2-Disc edition of that the most. It probably will come for a 2-Disc edition sometime in 2007.

The Rescuers would decent 2nd for me but probably won't get one soon.

The Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood are probably not going to get better releases anytime soon, which is kinda a shame because even thought neither film were really great, both were enjoyable films and had some highlights throughout the films plus since both are getting older it would be nice to get some interviews with a few of the people who worked on it. Both would tie for 3rd place for me.

Oliver and Company, The Aristocats and The Hunchback are 3 of my least favorite Disney movies of the 44 animated classics so I really don't care that much.

Oliver and Company and The Hunchback of Notre Dame aren't actually Gold Collection DVDs, but Hunchback and Hercules seem likely to be revisited soon among the non-Platinum titles.

My vote would go to The Black Cauldron. But since it is again left out of a poll, I cannot vote for it.
Best Movies of 2009:
1. Moon
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Coraline
5. Ponyo

Hercules and Hunchback of Notre Dame will probably get a 10th Anniversary Edition just like Pocahontas and Toy Story did this year.
The rest of the films on the list The Sword in the Stone, The Rescuers, Robin Hood and The Aristocats are underrated and should at least get a 2 Disc DVD treatment.

Please release Sword in the Stone! So far I haven't seen the movie but read a pop-up book about it.

Howdy!

Don't you mean The Rescuers Down Under? There's already a Rescuers on DVD since May 2003, and the Gold Collection DVDs were all made in 2000.

no i meant the rescuers...at the time of posting i didn't realize that some of the one-disc DVD's i listed weren't gold collection ones...

so in that case i revise my question to be...which one-disc release would you like to see re-done into a 2-disc CE?

Hercules was much much much better than i thought it would be, but i've never liked Sword in the Stone or Robin Hood much, or from what i can remember. Hunchback was okay, i'd like to see an updated version of that, but Hercules is my favourite of the few mentioned :D

Although I prefer a number of other films, I vote for The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I've been holding out for a special edition for some time (there's enough material from a laserdisc, man!), and I need to be rewarded.
