Also what's nice is the villans weren't that cheesy either. Usually a show with the good guys vs. bad guys plotline needs good villans otherwise it is just bad.

The villians were great! really funny too. They each had their own personality where as in the past most villians come off as the same type of baddie. I think Megavolt was my favorite. He was just so crazy. And not the smartest lightbulb in the box. The most dangerous villian would have to be Nega Duck or Taurus Bulba. Those two had serious issues. ;) DW Series DVD Disney, PLEASE!

I got in troble in 2nd grade for telling a girl to "Suck gas." With that said Darkwing Duck is my favorite Disney cartoon so ever! Not bad, for a show that I first thought was gonna be Donald Duck running around as a superhero.

That reminds me anyone remember the countdown commercials they had saying when Darkwing Duck was gonna be added to the Disney Afternoon lineup? It was Darkwing standing there with a bunch of live action dancers in the backround, if I remember right.

ps: I get really annoyed when my friend trys to tell me his name was Duckwing Duck. Wasn't Duckwing the name of his jet?

Haha. I've found trouble myself as a youngster trying to imitate cartoons.

Hmmm...maybe Kenai knows that one. I don't remember what Launchpad's jet was called.

Indeed I do, RR. Darkwing's jet was called the Thunderquack. 8)

Man I need a dvd release of this show. :p Didn't tape any shows and I can't get Toon Disney to even have a legitimate shot at taping episodes.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Complete-Darkwing-D ... dZViewItem

Very tempted to pay this ebayer a visit, even though I know its unofficial. :P Hey, if Disney doesn't do it, someone will.

With you there. Now that Iger's reign has begun, one thing he could do to make us fans happier to is to bring the next two greatest shows, DWD and Talespin to DVD A.S.A.P.

Nothing to jump up on the couch about, but I was at the Desktop Stop site and look what there was an ad for. :) It's a new flash comic thing. Gonna see if there's more on the site.

Seems Disney hasn't forgotten about him. :o

From Wikipedia, the official Best Reference Website Ever:
Wikipedia wrote:There is an episode of this series that has been banned from television. The episode Hot Spells is about Gosalyn wanting magical powers like Morgana, while visiting the school where some of Morgana's relatives teach. She is unable to attain them at the speed she desires, since it involves studying and understanding the principles behind the spells. Becoming impatient, she is easily maneuvered by the "Devil" in order to access forbidden knowledge to attain this power in order to, unknown to her, force Darkwing to relinquish his soul to save her. However, the "Devil" makes the hasty mistake of simply lying to her that the contents of the Library of Forbidden Spells were replaced with permitted material, which meant Gosalyn honestly believed that she was allowed to use the room. This mistake meant she was actually innocent by a technicality (although she should have asked one of the librarians to confirm this claim), thus allowing her to save her father. The very fact that a Disney-related show had any reference to Satan, and was even allowed to air a few times, is unusual. The same "Devil" also appeared in the episode "Dead Duck," but most of that episode was evidently a dream sequence.

I wasn't actually a fan of this show, compared to Ducktales and Chip N Dale but i did manage to at least get the Volt Guy and still have that Toy. I also still have the Disney on Ice Program which Darkwing was a second act.

Darkwing Duck did manage to spawn some great action figures. I've since lost my Megavolt figure (whose head "sparks" when you crank a little knob that strikes a flint...wish I still had that one :(), but I still have my Launchpad and Bushroot. I wish they had made more of these, though; I would have loved a bubble-blowing Ammonia Pine or a Sara Bellum figure with the Expando-Wammo pie bazooka (or some other S.H.U.S.H. Super-Deadly Toy :D ).

I loved this show, and will be buying the DVD release in August even if it's just a "best of" or volume collection. (Seems unlikely that Disney will release season sets of it anyway.)

Megavolt was my favorite villain: Dan Castellaneta's voice characterization was hysterical, and he was just a funny character overall. One of my all-time favorite show quotes was Megavolt saying, "It's gonna blow up like...well, like something really big blowing up!"

I loved Jim Cumming's imitation of Andy Devine as Herb Muddlefoot. Steelbeak cracked me up too (a great comedic performance from Rob Paulsen). Bushroot and Quackerjack were a hoot too. The show was full of very comedic villains.

Some favorite episodes:
- Comic Book Capers -- love a good comic book/superhero spoof
- A Revolution in Home Appliances -- Megavolt hilarity at its finest
- Just Us Justice Ducks -- epic and very funny.
- Battle of the Brainteasers -- cows are funny, period, especially when possessed by alien hats. (sequel ep was great too)
- Dry Hard -- one of the funniest villain defeats in 'toon history.
- Twin Beaks -- alien cabbages = comedy gold. Loved the spin on "Invasion of the Bodysnatchers".
- Whiffle While You Work -- Whiffle Boy!
- A Brush With Oblivion & Paint Misbehavin' -- Kids would never get all the art references/in-jokes, but it's a real treat for adults.
- The Merchant of Menace -- Quackerware alive!

I've still got that huge DW figure--it's about 16 inches tall, with a cloth cape. Also still have figures of Launchpad, Megavolt, DW, and a few others I can't recall at the moment since they're in storage, as well as some miniture PVC figs. And the centerpiece of my DW collection: the Playmates "Thunderquack" vehicle -- anyone know what its current estimated value is?
