is the dvd, sketches and companion book and the box! the gift set is limited issue as for indy it not limited!Satoshi wrote:Wow, I'm actually surprised by how few of you are going to get this considering what a bunch of Disney freaks you all are.![]()
Well right now my dilemma is at a point where I realize that I don't really need the extra money that the gift set would cost so buying it would be no problem but it's still alot of money to pay just for some sketches and a box, I'd probably feel like I wasted all that money. Oh well, I've still got a few days to decide....
EDIT: Alright I may have officially decided against the gift set. I just realized that Indy's coming out in just a couple weeks. I'm getting $40 around the time that it comes out and I'm expecting it to be around $45/50. This means that I'll need to save about ten dollars of what I have now in order to afford it. I have $57 now so $57-$10=$47. So if I bought the gift set I would have basically no extra money for a few weeks which wouldn't be good. Sooo I think I'm just gonna pick up the DVD at Circuit City for $14.99.
Whew, feels good to get that off my chest.
So, are you getting the gift set?

You're all making me reconsider getting the Gift Set at all. What I might just do is just get the Platinum now, via Toys R Us, and plan on getting the Gift Set at some point. I still really want to get the Gift Set, but the whole "first week of release" thing only makes sense if there's discounts...and the discounts on the Gift Set can't really get any less than what they are. Of course, I can just buy from Amazon and wait...since that seems to be the best deal right now. I dunno.
As long as TRU doesn't sell out of SB right away, then...I'll be glad paying $25+ tax for that.

I voted - Ahhhhhhh, I don't know. Like Indiana I am going to look for this to be selling for no more than $30, if I can get it that cheap.... But then again I don't know, the book doesn't seem woth it, and I'm beggining to doubt whether or not the pics are too. I might just save the money for Indy in a couple of weeks, but right now I just don't know. If I buy it, it will be on a whim.

I picked up the lithos from ebay for $8 after shipping.... I can't wait to see the package waiting happily on my doostep for me to come and watch it!!! Can't wait, can't wait....

Hey guys - how's Toys R Us about stocking both WS and P&S? I know they stocked Attack of the Clones in widescreen, but that was a big-ticket blockbuster. I'm not sure about some of the more family-oriented Disney titles.
Perticularly, I'm hoping to pay a bit more than I should for The Lion King so I can pick up either The Nightmare Before Christmas SE (which is OAR-only, but non-anamorphic) or Holes (which is available in dual WS and P&S versions.) If I was going to attempt to pick up The Lion King for $20 and Holes for $5, would they carry Holes in OAR? I'm fairly certian they'll carry it since I saw it feattured in their ad a few weeks ago when they were having a DVD sale, bu the ad pictured the 1.33:1 version. Any tips?

Don't care much for the book, perhaps if it were a Disney standard and all Platinums had the option of this definitive package... but alas, I'll avoid the damage and spring for the regular Platinum SE so I can pick up a few others around the same time too. There's just too many titles I want to buy and dollars are scarce.

I wish I could buy the gift set but...
I just don't have the money to buy the gift set. I will just get the two disc, money is tight. I plan to preorder the war set Disney Treasure Oct 16. Then I have to get the TTT extended in NOV. I didnt save enough to get the LK gift set in time. Rest assured when my all time favorite (The Little Mermaid) gift set comes out(if it does) I will save WELL in advance for that.

Return of the King is coming, are you ready?

Someone will have to post if the book is worth it or not. I was so deadset on getting the Gift Set figuring it would be on sale SOMEWHERE in its first week of release...but it seems it is $40 everywhere...and MediaPlay near my house is selling TLK + a Disney movie for $30...there are still a lot of classics I have to pick up...so I've almost decided against the Gift Set...there's still time to change my mind again though! We'll see...

I'm getting the TLK set simply because I was lucky enough to get it down to $28 on Amazon. A combo of the initial discount ($37.50), the Trivia Nickels discount, a Share the Love discount from Luke, the Super Saver shipping discount, and then the secondary product discount, where Amazon moved the price down even lower (to $35) - it all resulted in a cheap-o gift set for me.
And to think, the retail on this baby's $50...

I'm most likely NOT going to buy the gift set. Even though it's one of my favorite Disney movies, I'm content with just the cool cover art on the DVD.
I'm not too thrilled about the book and those character sketches look like they've already been produced at some other time. I really don't like the "draw-them-yourself" look to them. I don't know, maybe in a couple of years when I actually have CASH I'll pay the really high price for a new one.
