What Disney DVD would YOU like to see?

Post by droopyman8605 »

What would you like to see on Disney DVD, besides the junk that Disney's been putting out recently?

I'd truly like to see ALL of it!

The Small One has been released in some set recently. (Even though I'm not sure which one). Of the above my pick would be the new edition of The Three Caballeros.
Best Movies of 2009:
1. Moon
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Coraline
5. Ponyo

Of that list, a Darkwing Duck boxset. :D I think I've already said in other threads I had that show on plenty of times as a kid.

Muppet Babies
orestes.

Post by orestes. »

I hope all within the next 10 years instead of century but I can imagine myself 124 in 100 years clinging onto my old DVDs and sitting on my porch complaing about the kids today and their crappy music and how Disney was once good then bad then good then bad. :p

I voted for Muppet Babies though since it's not on DVD yet and that was one of my ultimate faves growing up.
Sure it would be nice to have a new 'The Three Caballeros' DVD but since I have that movie in a crappy release it's better than no Muppet Babies at all.

Am I the only one that finds it slightly disheartening that the one that seems to be coming out on top, wasn't even made by Disney!?

Even though I would have liked to have seen a 60th Anniversary Edition of The Three Caballeros (it's a bit late now we're heading out of 2005, so a special/masterpiece edition would be more suited now), Saludos Amigos deserves a rerelease a bit more, as although the edit isn't as bad as in, say, Make Mine Music, it still should have not been tampered with.

Plus, since a laserdisc containing a lot of bonus materials appeared, they could be ported over on to special editions, and we could recieve an ultimate edition with both films on one disc, and a Fantasia Legacy style disc on the other. Schweeeeeeeeeeeeet. 8)

Voted for MB.

I think Darkwing is a given at some point and some of the others are already out in one form or another or will be soon.

MB could go either way. Lesser shows from the time period have already come out, so now the ball is Disney's court.

The Disney Afternoon brings back fond memories of my childhood, so I voted for Darkwing Duck.
Muppet Babies would be a close second.

wow, y'all REALLY want Muppet Babies (Darkwing Duck a close second)

Anywho, about the enhanced Saludos Amigos, I thought the bonus features on the Gold Classics Collection release of SA really sucked. I really expected more bonus features, not just the trailer and the documentary. Maybe Disney can do a "enhanced" version where they do a featurette on the different cultures of the countries they visited, a couple unproduced shorts (especially La Loca Mariposa and Caxanga), plus a featurette on Donald and his Latin American buddies. If you want more info on the unproduced shorts I mentioned, please read The Disney That Never Was: Stories and Art from Five Decades of Unproduced Animation by Charles Solomon. It's out of print now, but it really opens your eyes to the creativeness of the Disney animation staff.

About my other one about Ducky Nash and Donald, I thought that since some of us have never seen all the appearances of Ducky Nash on the 1950s Mickey Mouse Club, plus the Duck On The Desk episodes of Walt's TV show, that maybe we could have a DVD with all of these handled.

I just got a response from Leonard Maltin about the new Walt Disney Treasures batch, and this is what he has to say:
Hi... Thanks for your interest in the Treasures; I hope you enjoy the new batch as well. DUCK PIMPLES is on the new DD set but there may be a problem with BELLBOY DONALD which we're trying to rectify. We're also finalizing the RARITIES disc rundown and I can't give you a definite answer on that, despite the press release going out.
I don't have any additional Clarence Nash info, but in our next DD disc there's a good interview with Tony Anselmo where he talks a bit about how he does the voice... though I've never understood the concept myself!
cheers, Leonard Maltin
In other words, Duck Pimples will be on the set, but there might be a problem with Bellboy Donald. I don't have the faintest clue how that could be, but I trust Leonard's judgement completely. I'll reply about that, but don't expect any answers anytime soon.

I could seem like you know the 1995 laserdisc box set of SA and TTC.
