Most Valuable DVD
Most Valuable DVD
I just really started looking up Walt Disney DVD's and I have a question for all the Disney buffs. What is the most valuable Region 1 Disney DVD? From what I've seen on Ebay, it looks like either the first Editions of Toy Stor I & II and/or The Little Mermaid and/or Peter Pan (Limited Issue). But I need some "professional" advice!

I'm not a professional so I can't give professional advice but I think some that would be on top of that list are 'Mickey Mouse in Living Colour' and 'Silly Symphonies Walt Disney Treasures sets.
Others would probably be a couple of other Treasures perhaps, 'Beauty & the Beast' Platinum Edition, 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' PE, Fantasia Anthology.

Don't think that there are any DVD's that quite hold in value as the infamous VHS "The Little Mermaid" Porno cover. I have seen it selling for as little as $500 and for as much as $3,000. It is the only VHS tape I will never sell, and I have only seen about a dozen other copies of this 'infamous' release.
The "Silly Symphonies" Tin box is probably the most sought after, followed closely by "Mickey Mouse in Living Color Vol. 1". I have also seen the "Davy Crockett" Tin box selling for a pretty steep price at collector's stores. I would never buy any of these from eBay because you don't know what you are getting until after it arrives and they have your hard-earned money.

We have that somewhere.dvdjunkie wrote:Don't think that there are any DVD's that quite hold in value as the infamous VHS "The Little Mermaid" Porno cover. I really don't think there is any real "valuable" dvd out there. Sure you could try to sell it for a large sum but it's not likely to sell for that.

I definitely have that VHS and even looked into selling it recently (in May) on ebay and I saw others not even selling at $10. I decided that $10 really wasn't enough to make it worth selling to me. If you can find an auction showing it sell (not just up for $500+) for that much, please post. Maybe I'll think about selling it again!dvdjunkie wrote:Don't think that there are any DVD's that quite hold in value as the infamous VHS "The Little Mermaid" Porno cover. And Alan, Emperor's new groove CE is on sale in the Disney Movie Club for $21.95.
I'd say that the two treasures previously mentioned: Silly Symphonies and In Living Color vol 1 in TINS are the most valuable.

In treasures tin, the most expensive at Ebay are as follow:
Mickey Mouse in Living color (about $80 and plus)
Complete goofy ($70 and plus)
Silly symphonies
Dave crockett
Mickey mouse in balck and white
Disneyland USA
Behind the scene
The price will be going up around Christmas time and
MMILC and Goofy could be easily over $100.
The Tins are always precious.
I am glad I have them all,
Silly Symphonies is the best and my favoriate.
Good Luck finding yours!

Hi
Little Mermaid $500-$3,000
Only a dozen copies of this "infamous" release ?
Where have you been looking.
E-Bay is full of authentic banned supposedly "rare" edition of this movie.
You can't even get $10 for it.
The Internet is flooded with them.
I have a friend who owns a rare video store, and she has a bunch of new factory sealed ones of it, she can't get more than $24 a piece for them.

Disney-wise, I'd have to say the most valuable/sought after DVD is definitely MMILC and SS from Wave 1 treasures. Also, BATB is probably the most valuable OOP Platinum, and obviously TLM is the most valuabe Limited Issue.
I have heard though, that an OOP Criterion DVD called "Salo" is THE most valuable and sought after DVD ever. Ever. I never heard of the movie until I read about it in Entertainment Weekly. Don't know if I'd really wanna pay $600+ for it, though.

Yeah, this place definitely is not the place to be talking about the movie. I haven't seen it, but just based on the synopsis, I doubt I'll ever plan on seeing it.disneytreasurestin wrote:Oh, Salo, here might be not the place talking about that movie.
I don't want to watch it anymore after saw it first time.
