It seems "Lilo & Stitch" is the only one who got delayed!
From The Digital Bits:
Now then... we have a rundown on some of Disney's early 2004 DVD releases. On 1/6, look for Ciao, Professore!, Get Bruce!, I've Heard the Mermaids Singing, The Innocent, The Little Twins: The Magic of Giving, The Lovers on the Bridge, MicroCosmos, Moondance, Revenge of the Musketeers, Ridicule, Sonatine, Strawberry & Chocolate, Talk of Angels, Torrents of Spring and Unzipped. 1/27 will see the release of the Alice in Wonderland: Special Edition and the Pocahontas: Special Edition. Then on 2/3, look for more catalog titles including In the Army Now, Fire Birds, Hawk's Vengeance, Mask of Death, Perfect Harmony, The Rage, Ruby Bridges, Selma Lord Selma and Welcome to Sarajevo.

That's great news, if it is true, I mean about Alice and Pocahontas, I'm in no hurry to upgrade my Lilo and Stitch. :P

That Digital Bits report is older than Luke's new info. So Poca probably has been put up in the air - I was suprised Disney opted to release both SEs on one day anyway.

Yeah, I completely agree!

Well, they released all the Vault Disneys on the same day, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same to the 2004 Special Editions. I want these DVDs NOW! :-)

As long as Pocahontas and Lilo are released SOMETIME next year, I don't mind delays, especially since it seems my favorite Disney film will be the first major Disney release of the year 2004.

Well, maybe it would be a good idea to delay one of the three and release it with the 2-disc for Mary Poppins, unless Disney has other plans.

Regardless, I'm THRILLED to see the 2-disc of Alice confirmed, mainly for it's extras.

So much good stuff... so little money...

That's one of the reasons I'm half-glad Pocahontas is still up in the air. I probably wouldn't be able to afford getting it and Alice on the same day and the decision of which one to get would be too hard.

I think they should do each 1 month apart

January: Alice
February: Pocahontas
March: Lilo & Stitch (this would coincide with the planned sequel, and I'd bet money this is when it is indeed coming out)
April: Mary Poppins

June: Tarzan (reissue with price drop)
July: The Hunchback of Notre Dame
August: All the sequels, including the SE of Poca 2, and the debuts of T2 and M2

...and then...

October: Aladdin!!!!!!!!

please note, all titles listed between Jack's quote and Aladdin!!!!!! are not actually planned to the knowledge of anyone on this bored.

Actually, they will be releasing Mary Poppins around August supposedly. Something about making the release coincide with the 40th anniversary.

Yes I know. I was just saying I would prefer if they released one every month.

That being said, I really do think L&S is coming in March.

I would think L&S would be saved for closer to the summer, but I dunno when the sequel is coming, so who knows?

And the wild card in all this is when will Disney put the DVD for Brother Bear out. Will that be in the fall or earlier in the year?

Huh.

From what I heard, Brother Bear's due out in March. I wonder if Disney will decide to make it 2-disc if the film becomes big.

Really? March? Seems fast for a Disney cartoon. But I'll take your word for it. 2 disc set? Well, depends on who sees and how many times it is seen.

It's gonna be a busy few months! Wonder when the specs for Alice will pop up!

Actually, I assumed Brother Bear would be March, as it was spring when the other two animated features (non-Pixar) that were theatrically released in fall were released on DVD.

Emperor's New Groove:
Theatrical-November
DVD-May

Treasure Planet:
Theatrical-November
DVD-April

So naturally, Brother Bear would be released in the "one-month-earlier" pattern (this year-March).

Probably not since they didn't with Lilo and Stitch, besides if it is a big hit, that's all the more incentive for them to do a 1 disc set, so that they can later do a 2 disc set, ensuring that fans will buy 2 sets, and increases their profits...

Actually, Lilo's coming out in May, and Pocahontas is TBD. Mary Poppins is in August, and sometime next year, there might be a Dumbo SE.

As for the Lilo sequel, I haven't read anything anywhere putting it earlier than 2005. But this is Disney, and things can change...

I think that there should be a SE every month:

Jan-Alice
Feb-Pocahontas
Mar-Lilo (to coincide with sequel)
Apr-Pocahontas 2
May-Mulan (possibly coincide with sequel)
Jun-Tarzan (possible coincide with sequel)
Jul-Hunchback
Aug-Mary Poppins (40th Anniversary)

and...
Sept.-Hunchback 2 (because a wise 2099net once said that every animated film deserves a 2-disc set. I'll paraphrase that by adding: even the crappy sequels)
