Here's the deleted scenes at the BBFC. Not quite the hour promised (unless there are more deleted scenes which are integrated into the movie and they are being <strike>censored</strike> classified later. Being as some of these are 'extended' I can't see them working with extended branching when watching the movie)

All I know is Fox UK has issued another recent press release that states a 4 disc version is in the works, and their website still lists a 2 and 4 disc set.

More extras:

TITANIC - ALTERNATE ENDING WITH OPTIONAL COMMENTARY Run Time 8m 59s

TITANIC - MTV MOVIE AWARDS TITANIC SKIT Run Time 4m 21s

from DavisDVD
More details are coming in as the launch date of Titanic: Collector's Edition looms closer. Okay, so here's what we can tell you so far: the film will be released in a two-disc "Special Edition" and a four-disc "Deluxe Collector's Edition" in non-Region 1 Europe, Australia and Latin America. Both configurations will feature three commentary tracks, a never-before-seen nine-minute alternate ending to the film and 50 minutes of branching featurettes during the movie. The four-disc edition also will include 45 minutes of deleted scenes, a making-of documentary, production and special effects featurettes, Celine Dion's music video and DVD-ROM material.

Now here's where Region 1 people may want to bite on their arms as they read on: From the looks of it, the four-disc "Deluxe Collector's Edition" will include additional bonus materials not available on the U.S. three-disc set. These will include the "HBO First Look: The Heart of the Ocean" making-of special, a collection of TV spots & trailers and three Easter Egg parody shorts ("Titanic in 30 Seconds With Bunnies," "MTV Movie Awards" and "SNL Skit With Bill Paxton and James Cameron"). Oh, and did I forget to mention that the two- and four-disc editions also will include DTS-ES 6.1 tracks? Yup, they certainly do. The domestic three-disc set will include only Dolby Digital 5.1 EX.

WHY?? I know the R2ers here are thinking "'bout time the shoe's on the other foot," but this is frustrating news. I would love to see those features and don't understand the logic in deleting them from our set.

Why does the US ALWAYS get screwed over by record and DVD comapnies? :x I was going to buy it, but not anymore. I know it seems shallow to not buy it over a few bonus features, but most of the features that were deleted from the US release were ones I was looking forward to VERY much.

Perhaps now I should invest in a multi-region player...

I think it must be something to do with the fact that Fox did film the movie, and did infact fund the vast percentage of the film. Paramount stepped in with last minute rescue funding when Fox's accountants finally said "Enough is enough!" As a result, Paramount got the US rights for very little finanacial outlay.

Perhaps, while Paramount have the copyright on the film, Fox still has the rights to the name and any spin-offs both internationally and domestically. Therefore, HBO's special (which I'm sure is rubbish) has joint ownership by Fox and HBO and not Paramount, and likewise with the spoofs - perhaps they are affiliated to Fox and not Paramount. Ultimately, it probably comes down to rights.

This doesn't include the lack of DTS though. It seems odd, because Paramount had just started adding DTS tracks to their 2 disc Star Trek releases.

Unfortunately, my player is not region free. :(

PS. Are there multi-region players that will slow down the play of a region 2 disc? I know that there's a slight speed up, but I was just wondering if any of the multi-region players slowed down the play to make up for that?

You can hardly feel the speed up. Besides, with such a long feature it could be useful! :P
Maybe I'm a R2 consumer but I really think it's annoying to leave off stuff like trailers and TV spots (which are basics in CEs today). The rights explinations sounds logical regarding the easter eggs, but why leave out trailers and a DTS track? I just don't get it!

I just find it sad that whenever I make a thread about Ben-Hur coming out on four disc DVD, only like 3 people reply, but when someone makes a thread about titanic, it has four pages of replies. And Ben-Hur is so much better than Titanic...

Alan, that is your opinion. You must learn to respect others if you want respect in return. Titanic is a much fresher film, and seeing how most here are fairly young, most here have experienced Titanic and not Ben Hur. You can learn to live with it, or you can't. Either way, no need to show such disrespect to other's opinions.

I usually respect different opinions, but may I ask, why would you want that? My god, every time I see that name I start feeling sick. :P
