I am seriously shocked at the behaviour and PREJUDICE LANGUAGE on this thread and I would certainly not be sad if memnv was BANNED for it. No matter what, CHILDREN visit this site. If my 6 year old read that, I would be DEMANDING memnv to be banned. Total disrespect for fellow members, Luke, and children!!!

memnv, as much as I and others have enjoyed most of your contributions over the past nearly five months, you've crossed an unfortunate line with your behavior in this thread and recent others. Personal attacks are not allowed, and this is not the first time you've been spoken to on the matter. Ignorance and immaturity are forgiveable offenses, but when you attack other forum members, it creates a hostile atmosphere which is one we're decidedly not striving for.

Hopefully, you can take about the next 7-10 days and reconsider your behavior so you can continue to be a member of this forum. If not, then your presence will be missed, but not the negativity you have unnecessarily created.

In thought I'd add to Lazario's comments about the origins of the work 'Gay'. Back when homosexuals were still largely prejudiced in the 70s and the first protests and marches started, the motto they used was 'We are as good as you'. Good As You. the first three letters from the words were taken to form the anocronym (is it an anacronym i can't remember?) anyhoo, that is where the word 'gay' originated.

Looks to me like a simple (though provocative) question was asked and some people responded rudely. Just move on, folks, it's not a big deal if someone's gay or not. I don't see how it matters, really; I'm straight, and that doesn't affect my ability to post, so I don't see how it matters if anyone else is gay, straight, or bisexual. Let's quit putting people into groups and labels. It's a personal issue, really. (Although it does make for some interesting political debate...)

On the topic of memnv and his bad posting techniques, he was handling the topic just fine... His attacks came absolutely out of nowhere. And that's a sign that he is not very likely to learn a darn thing from a suspension. I doubt he's going to get a life in 7-10 days. Nevertheless, he knew what he was doing, and no one can claim otherwise. He made a choice to leave / break the rules, and basically wants to control the entire board by deciding what posts should stay and go. He even came up with a plan, attack and make an uncomfortable topic hostile so no one else wants to read it, discuss, post on it either. That kind of arrogant attitude coupled with his apathy toward the respect he's supposed to be showing toward members regardless of differences, equals the perfect negative element. Who the hell is he to decide when this board is worthless? Furthermore, I'm still infuriated over his choice of language. I find it impossible to say this without sounding wannabe-superior, but I want him gone. For good. He crossed the ultimate do-not-cross line with me. And if he does come back, I will guarantee you things will not be pleasent. At all. I'll see to that.

Lazario, your anger is more than understandable, but taking the fight down to his level, if he does come back, will just lead to more negativity. I'm sure we're all here to have fun, so instead of focusing on the negative, lets put our minds on the positive. You have proven to be a contributing member, it's a shame if you would stop being one just for the sake of making another member miserable (however right you may be).

This thread's only problem was for the fact that a few couldn't grasp the idea that it was not asking a "yes" or "no" question, nor was it asking an opinion. It was asking, "Who here is gay?"

Those who are not gay, had no reason to post here. Most did anyways, and did so with respect.

But people like memnv, who feel they must spread the negativity and prejudice must start a fight with bullying technique. There is NO reason for it. Since all Alice asked was "Who here is gay?", memnv went off topic with his hurtful and thoughtless opinions. The thread is still relevant, so long as it stays how it intended to be. A simple question. No less disrespectful then asking about males and females or ages. Which asking those questions are even more invasion of privacies then if someone is gay or not, being there are nutjobs out there who enjoy the company of little children. Devulging one's age and sex can be dangerous online. But not so much saying if your gay or straight. Admitting to being gay only opens you up to be insulted and torn apart by people who want you to feel less worthy, because they don't feel worthy at all.

I was giving you the impression that memnv was a ticking time bomb, because he gave no advanced warning for his behavior. Therefore, it should be assumed that he would have done something like this all along. Regardless of what he said after the fact, he has no respect for the board. He had intentions to say whatever he wanted and he expects to get away with it. If he comes back, the trouble will not end. He'll stick his nose into another thread where it doesn't belong, start slinging his negative comments around to get people going, and we'll be right back here if this is where it starts from. It should be ended before it comes to that.

I think Luke did the right thing. I think memnv was really wasting bandwidth just to say two cruel words at a time just because some one "wasn't sure" if he was gay. Now I don't think being gay is a crime in any sort of way. I may not agree with it but attacking people just because they are gay is a somewhat mean and uncivilized thing to do. Eh, no harm done. We all just need to remember that no one here wants to know everyone's individual hardships. So it's better to assume one knows a personal experience from which they speak, and we shouldn't make light of any form of pain, desperation, or struggle. Also, as a group, gays / homosexuals are truly being fully assaulted by our current society overrun by religious and political zealots trying to take away all and any rights they have. So, maybe now you all know why I think memnv should be banished now and forever. That's why I say he went TOO too far. Because he doesn't understand anything or else he wouldn't have made such ignorant statements. He practically did it for kicks.
