SpongeBob SquarePants on DVD

Post by magicalwands »

I'm thinking of getting the Spongebob Seasons, but I currently have enough money for only one of the two right now. I was wondering which one of the two I should buy first. Right now I just want to buy the best one to watch that I will enjoy the most while summer is still here.

Preferrably, the funnier season.

Only the first 2 seasons have been released (3rd is being released September 27th). The second season is the funniest, but if you want to collect them, you should buy the first season and then the second..it's nicer to go in order.

I wouldn't reeeeally recommend buying the compilation Spongebob dvds (the ones with 10 random episodes) since it's easier just to get the first 3 seasons.

Well Its Really Up o U... I think Season 2 is the funnier one but I think it is cool to get season one because it was the introduction to the show.... It depends what episodes you like the best and then buy the the one with the more episodes you like

Thanks for your replies guys. I got the second season today and I might decide to pick up the first season (if it's on sale) when the third season comes out. Just like what they did with The Simpsons.

Season 2 is funnier, but season 1 is the one to get if your starting to collect them. The thing about season 1 is that it has the episodes I'm not so fond of (squeaky boots and employee of the month to name two). But I like the valentines day episode as I havent seen it in 2 years.

This is definitely one of the best Nickelodeon shows, and both of the first seasons are equally brilliant and excellent. Go with either one, really. I suggest starting with the first, just so you can eventually have a parallel between the two when you own both. Plus, if you get the first one later, you might be disappointed.

Goddamn, Paramount/Nickelodeon, get full season sets of Fairly Odd Parents out! NOW!

SpongeBob SquarePants is one of the funniest, most clever family-oriented cartoon shows to ever be on TV. Most importantly, it's quite smart and appeals to an audience beyond children.

I agree. Maybe it's good for other people, but I'd die a horrible death if I watched more than five minutes of the show. Then again, I'm not usually interested in what most people like. But I think they were asking which of the seasons were better, not whether people dislike it or not...

Is this show stupid? Yes. But yet it's really creative. I love when they blend live-action pictures with animation, those moments make me laugh at loud. I also think the characters are funny and the voice actors are pretty good. While it's no "Rocky and Bullwinkle", nor is it quite as good as older cartoons or the old DA shows, but I still found it really funny and I think it's probably the best cartoon series currently on, but that's not saying much at all since almost all of the current cartoons on Nickelodean, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel have been quite scary.

Well, it's kind of stupid. Because it's aimed at kids, it has to be a little crazy, loud, etc. It's the nature of cartoons, did anyone forget that when they were bashing it? Again, it is far more imaginative and clever than any other family animated cartoon show to come along in nearly a decade before SpongeBob. Before SpongeBob, the best cartoon show was probably Animaniacs from 1993.

There is so much to like/love about SpongeBob. That show plays with everything, it's not content on just coming up with an infantile storyline and some appealing animation. It takes everything to a level far above the bar set by it's competitors. Using yes, the blending of live-action and animation, is one thing. They managed to be very original in their execution of this element, using only body parts like hands with gloves on, or objects like sponges (of course), starfish, rubber things. They work a lot with music. Episodes like the one where SpongeBob or Squidward become a band leader and they sound like an 80s rock band (like The Scorpions or Quiet Riot, I think), and just any old kooky episode. One where SpongeBob was dreaming, another one where SpongeBob was making Krabby Patties by walking on things like ketchup containers.

It's also a very quirky show. The episode for instance where SpongeBob and Patrick run around making dolphin noises everytime they would be cursing and Mr. Krabbs runs through all 13 words "you can't say on television".

Everytime I watch that show, I'm entertained beyond words. I watch The Fairly Odd Parents more often, and closer. So I could elaborate on that show far more. But SpongeBob SquarePants is a winner, for certain. I can't imagine people wouldn't like this. It's very funny. I guess if you don't really like cartoon TV shows you might not like this. But let's just say after waiting for years for another good animated TV show to come along, I got exactly what I was looking for with SpongeBob. Will someone please refer us to the great cartoon TV show we weren't watching before SpongeBob came along? I thought not.

I think that Spongebob Squarepants is a brilliant little cartoon but for some reason I'm not attracted to a magnet to this show like I am too most animation. If it's on and I'm bored I'll watch it and bask in it's delightfulness but I'd never buy the seasons or the movie. Speaking of the movie I was pretty disappointed with it. I was really looking forward to it but it was a little crusty.

You can say that about the Simpsons!

Spongebob (the show) is all messed up. I thought Doug was a WHOLE lot better show.
