Post your dvd shelves...

Post by eap_44 »

hi guys,

we've been discussing about the animated classics that we have in the past forum. this time why don't you post the kind of DVD SHELVES where you put your Disney DVDs and also where you bought them.

i'm currently looking to buy a shelve as my current on can no longer hold the dvds i own.

if this this is an off-topic, please move this thread. :D

My first DVD shelves were from http://www.boltz.com but in my old apartment I had a huge sliding glass door that led to the balcony, so sun filled up my whole living room...so since the boltz shelves are exposed I realized that the sun was fading the colors on the spines of my DVDs and so I had to change. Other than that the shelves were pretty good, so if you don't have a sun problem where you store your movies, those might work...though I've decided since then that I don't much like the boltz design that much anyways...

So then I ordered a DVD cabinet that could close from the site that Lightyear mentioned. I bought this one http://www.storeyourmedia.com/ProductIn ... id=VS-0205
It looked perfect online...but it's pretty poor actually. The constuction of it is pretty flimsy...the "lock" barely works, not that it is really important for me to lock up my movies anyway, but the doors tend to swing open if I don't lock beceause of the weight of the DVDs on the shelves and poor design...also there is a wooden piece up the middle for support that will block access to some DVDs if you put them all the way across the shelves...so all in all it is a pretty weak piece of furniture...so for the price, I would definitely not reccommend at least this particular model from those guys...

...so I am still looking for the perfect shelf...something that is just a normal flat wooden shelf, but still has doors on it to cover up the movies...but right now I have no money to invest in something new so I'm stuck with the DVD cabinet...

This is what RJKD23 uses:

Two of those, actually (switched back to format of DVDs to his & her: Makes it a lot easier for ME to pick out any movie randomly without having to pick a HORROR). Of course, we didn't pay that much. Ryan's discount gave us more than 50% off.

But I like it. I really wanted a lock for our DVDs, but now that I think about it, without a door to hide the DVDs, I can easily track what's missing. :)
I dunno, I'm weird like that.

And then there used to be a printed list on the side of the DVD tower, but not anymore because we have too many...

Currently I have them in just a large book case, but it is nearly full (Only about 5 inches left of room!) However, we will be remodeling and in my new bedroom I am going to have just wooden shelving going a long a wall and have it pretty big so that way I will never run out of room (Atleast until a new format comes a long and these babies are stuffed in a box in the closet.
I hope that when all these Blu-ray players are shipped from Japan the boat sinks!! lol
Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

Currently I use a dvd tower that resembles a book case. It's wooden and nice-looking..It's about five feet tall and has around 9 shelves, each one holds 8 dvds except for the top one, which holds about 13 dvds when stacked vertically.

I'm running out of room..so I'm going to have to move my live-action dvds out onto a separate shelf.
