Pre-ordering off of Amazon (a shipping question)

Post by Fee-Hee-Hee-Eny »

I have pre-ordered something off of Amazon, and chose the free super saver shipping. Will my order arrive on the release date or soon afterwards?

Oh, just in case you're wondering, I ordered Boy Meets World: Season Three.

I pre-ordered Muppet Show Season 1 with the super saver shipping and still haven't gotten it :( I'm hoping for tomorrow or Tuesday.

That is why I get all my new releases at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. I can get them the same time they are released and don't have to worry about getting lost in the mail. I can sit and watch them whiile the rest of those who depend on mail-order wait.

Plus with my bad experience with Amazon and my credit card, I will never shop with anyone that won't take a money order or ship C.O.D. Besides looks at the money I save in interest on a credit purchase.

I know Luke, this site supports Amazon, but I think you could find a better way to buy DVD's and do pre-orders with a lot better ordering and shipping system.

I will never again put a credit card on the internet. It IS NOT secure, no matter what they say.

Thanks, I guess it's not too big of a deal as to when it arrives, but I'll let you know.

I'm just gonna buy when it comes out and not even bother pre-ordering...

Actually, it's more of the other way around. Ordering through Amazon supports this site...without it, there is no UltimateDisney.com site.

Your experience is definitely the exception to the rule. Amazon's customer service and security is unparalleled, which is why they're the most popular e-tailer even when their prices can be beat elsewhere.

To answer the actual question posed, Free Super Saver Shipping sometimes takes longer and sometimes, it doesn't. I've found that it typically takes the longest when you're buying something on or shortly after release date. If you've preordered several weeks or months in advance, it could well still turn up on release date, and should likely arrive within a few days.

Thanks, Luke. I ordered this way back in June, so hopefully it does show up on release date. :D

Well I always thought that they couldn't ship it until it actually comes out. So I guess it arrives when it arrives. You gotta have patience...

amazon is a very reliable shop, especially when problems happen. They are willing to refund damaged items or part-refund damaged covers.....there are other shops...you order you pay....and never get anything.

Besides, it depends with the speed, sometimes they send out the stuff before the release date bit if you have ordered other stuff that will be released later they sometimes wait 1-2 weeks after the release.

Play is very fast (but Playcom also very expensive) - they ship as soon as it arrives - sometimes even a week before release. I remember I got a dvd from play/playusa on the release date or even a day before - on international shipping.

I always use the Super Saving Free Shipping deal. I mostly buy DVDs on the site, and many times I have ordered and recieved on the release date. But I have also had to wiat a week after it was released to get it. Every time is different. I have (only once) recieved a DVD the Friday before it was released and I was extremely happy. I am sure you will get it within the week of release, but sometimes things just happen.

Sorry for digging out this old thread, but I need a question answered as well. If I order something (in this case the Black Swan Blu-ray) which is borderline for the Free Super Saving Shipping and is bound go to under the mark, does the shipping remain free or would I have to pay standard shipping if the price goes under $25?

I've often had pre-order items ship out one or two days BEFORE their official release dates (for instance, one item was due for a Monday release but Amazon shipped out mine on the Saturday before). This has happened on Amazon UK as well.
