Is Disney really the greatest cartoon maker?

Post by Tangela »

I'm not trying to put Disney down, by I wouldn't say it is the greatest either. Have you ever heard of japanese word "Meisaku" cartoons? These cartoons magically bring to life famous novels like "Tale of Young Grass", "Pollyanna" or "Little Women" into animated cartoon series.

Take a look at them in:

http://meisaku.net

I recommend the songs, they are all in japanese but they are charming, most of them sound like little kids singing.

:) :) :)

The animation is great:

Listen to this enchanting song in japanese, its beutiful:

:)

This is the beautiful japanese cartoons, not those modern cartoons filled with square-faced people and contain nothing but fighting.

I'm sure those are great, but hands down, the answer to your question YES!!! Without a doubt in my humble opinion Disney is the Best! They may have stupid suits screwing with things from time to time, but noone can deny their magic. However, perhaps if I were a big fan of Anime or Japanimation, or even grew up in Japan, I may have felt differently, but I'm a number 1 fan os USAnime! And disney is the best!

When I hear the word animation, the first thing that comes to my mind is Disney. While i do like some other companies' films, such as Dreamworks 'Road to El Dorado', and H. Miyazaki's 'Princess Mononoke', I have and probably always will prefer Disney's work. I know that by watching one of the animated Disney movies i will have fun. I can't say the same for some other companies...

It's not like I dislike the other studios, it's just my opinion that Disney has exceeded anything that the other companies have done.

And by the way, those pictures look pretty interesting to me! :)

Westley: Do you always begin conversations this way?

Disney makes the best overall animated films in my opinion, hands down. Sure, they haven't had much competition outside of the last 10 years or so, and even with some disappointments in the last 10 years, they're still pretty much unrivaled in the storytelling and overall film departments, with the exception of Pixar, who has put out better films the last 8 years, but a different kind of film than Disney.

But then, I'm not going to pretend to know a lot of anime. I have seen very few, and liked them to a degree, but not like Disney. Could be my cultural slant, as I grew up with Disney films like many of you.

The thing that makes Disney such a great animation powerhouse is the wazes they made in animation technology. I'm not saying that Disney invented animation or anything but the company certianly have do some great things with the art form. Heres some examples...

Alice shorts, blending animation and live action.
Mickey Mouse first big animtion star and first cartoons with sound.
Flowers and Trees, first color cartoon.
The Old Mill, first use of techni-plane camera
Snow White, first full lenght animated feature

the list goes on.

Well thats actually low in fat so you can eat as much of that as you like.
