Who wants to bet money that the re-releases of The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper will be full-frame only? I'm so glad I already own the Columbia Tri-star editions which are 16X9 widescreen.
And in an unrelated story, the newly released musicals "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" from 1973 and 1974 respectively, both were photographed in Panavision (2.35:1) are pan-scan jobs from Sony/MGM home video. Customers are outraged by this. Just check out the customer reviews on Amazon.com.

I'd take that bet. Disney got hundreds and hundreds of calls complaining about the fullscreen Muppet releases in 2002. For them to be re-released in fullscreen with the same exact extras would make very little sense, and it in turn makes little sense to think they'll release half of the four in widescreen and half not. While Disney still gets away with releasing things chopped up for fullscreen; they rarely make such blunders on formally-announced titles, which these will qualify as. Their errors are generally limited to the lightly-produced and purchased catalogue waves. But of course I wouldn't count on them being widescreen until Disney explicitly says so. Muppets' Wizard of Oz, while airing in 4x3, could be an indicator that Disney still holds some belief that Muppets DVDs are best in fullscreen.Poppins#1 wrote:Who wants to bet money that the re-releases of The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper will be full-frame only? Are there any details on the Avonlea set? Is it the entire first season (13 episodes)? That would be wonderful especially at such a great price. The only plave you can buy Avonlea now is online at the Sullivan Boutique and the DVD season sets there are $80, which explains why I haven't bought them. But $25 seems almost too good to be true. Any info would be appreciated.

Actually, it's the first thirteen episodes. Home Media Retailing has the cover art on their website.
