I was wondering about the deal Disney got with the muppets.

It might help you understand exactly what Disney got in it's deal with the Muppets.

I for one would love "Muppet Babies" on DVD ... but as it was said before ... that is going to be tricky with all the various film clips that were in the episodes ...

I understand that, but if the rights were already paid of years ago then why would they have to pay for them all over again? I just think that is dumb that they had to pay for it to be in the show and now they have to pay for it on DVD. The money that would be made would be worth it though. I don't know a single person who liked children's cartoons that didn't like Muppet Babies. I hope someday I will see on the front page of this site: On [ ] Disney will release Muppet Babies Volume 1 that will contain 26 episodes of the emmy award winning series digitally remastered with audio commentaries on [ ] episodes and a documentary of bringing the claissics Muppets to Babies! Oh yeah, that would be the best day of my life.:) lol

Watching Rugrats with my daughter sometimes, it makes me wonder if Rugrats creators watched Muppet Babies because some episodes were very similar to Muppet Babies.

I always remembered the live action clips they use to use on show. Like they'd open the closet door and the Creature from the Black Lagoon was there, lol
Oh! And Kermit's nephew was a tadpole, LMAO!

I love the Muppet Babies. I haven't watched them for over 20 years. I miss them. They were so funny too. I think they should release them all in one shot. I don't know how many episodes were made though. But they should make them into one box set. Unlike what they're doing with The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which I slso think should be made into one boxed set since there are only 83 episodes. I read a review on here and someone had made the suggestion that they do this. It wasn't my idea but it's a good one though.

I am sorry JamminJake245 but you are mistaken The Many Advenutures of Winnie the Pooh had 83 episodes. You can read about it on the Ultimate Disney website's review of Winnie the Pooh. Just go to Winnie the Pooh. Plus I recieved directly from Disney an actual list of all the episodes of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and there were 83 to be exact.

Yeah. Those were the stories not the episodes. The episodes were 30 minutes with commercials (really like 22)

Well many count the 11 min shorts as episodes and the 22 min show as the show.

I've never heard that before. Those are really shorts or stories. To most in the entertainment buz an episode is a full length program, not a story. For example in TV Guide you may read "This Monday is a new episode of Arthur...." Arthur is made up of two stories, but refered to as an episode.

You people are so pathetic. Get a life. Everyone on this message board needs to get a grip. Who cares it was just a t.v. show I gave you the list I got from Disney and now all you people want to do is analyze it. You make me sick. I thought I was a fanatic but you people are insane. And big deal if you miss a Disney dvd it will come out again anyways. So who cares if you have to wait. There are other better things in life than waiting for a stupid Little Mermaid dvd. That's all I am writing on here again. I am going to say it again you peeps need to get some lives! Totally. And I mean everybody on here.

Hopefully a mod will see the above post. To bad we don't have the future like at tv.com where you can report abuse. I am suprised at that.

Why do you care if some people on this board are "fanatics"? If people want to analyze the list,so be it!

and jamminjake, you can just email a moderator if you have any concerns, since phpbb lacks a report button.

And why did you have to bump this up after 3 months?

Anyways, I read the whole thing not realizing it was an old topic until I paid attention to the dates...

As for the clips they'd show on the episodes:

1. Henson probably paid for the broadcast rights for those clips to appear on TV, which is why Muppet Babies has been able to be syndicated up until like 5 years ago or so.

2. Since broadcast rights aren't the same as...what's it called...consumer rights, it's a different set of rules as to if a company will release those rights for DVD release. A good example is music changed on DVDs. The producers paid for the broadcast rights of the songs, which is why many remain intact in syndication. But for the DVD rights, it's different, usually more expensive, so many shows opt instead to put alternate music. Las Vegas, for example, uses its international theme song instead of the US theme song on their DVDs because it's cheaper. Also, Married With Children omitted their theme song "Love and Marriage", and replaced it with a similar sounding instrumental.

Hope that clears up the confusion about the clips. They simply have to get different rights to distribute it on DVD.

BTW, I so want Muppet Babies on DVD! :D

As for that strange argument between purplebluelove99 and jamminjake...um, I just counted both your lists, didn't pay much attention to the titles. You both have listed the same amount of titles, purplebluelove in one list, jake in another list with two joined by a /. So you're both right. So there. :P
